I'm really pleased with Bella at the moment and here's why:
1. We had lots of disruption this weekend with people coming to stay and people dropping in and us going over to a friend's house (took her with us), and she was just great with everyone she met. The puppy sitter (who is dropping in a few times before she starts looking after Bella at the end of this week) said she was a really confident little girl and can't see that she is going to have any problems with her at all.
2. I have been leaving her for up to an hour each morning so that when the pup sitter takes over, we will already be in a routine and it won't be a shock for her. This morning for the first time when I came back there was absolute silence from the kitchen and she hadn't wee'd or poo'd at all, so she is obviously really getting the hang of having a bit of time by herself and not worrying about it.
3. This morning was final jabs and microchip and deworming and defleaing, AND she had to be carried all the way to and from the vet's (15min walk each way) as the car wouldn't start. And she was really, really good, came back and had a wee in the garden and is now flat out. Edited to say that the vet said she is in "excellent body condition" and has put on just the right amount of weight. :D
I just wanted to tell you lot how pleased I am with her - and only a week to go until she can have her first proper walk - hurray! The puppy sitter is about to start looking after a little mongrel called Charlie who is a week older than Bella, so they will be able to play and grow up together - isn't that sweet? :P
Hurray for cockers! :D

Well done Claire.
Just read your encouragements to me and was wondering how you were getting on now.
You must feel so proud of her!
Sorry you had to carry her all the way, not much longer before walkies!!!!
Have you tried her on a lead yet?
Do keep the news coming, she sounds fantastic, enjoy her.
:P :P

Ah that's great news Claire - nice one Bella!
Paddy had his second jab and micro chip today. My wife took him - aparantly he howled when the microchip went in - what a softy  ! (although I have heard that the needle is quite big
I took him to a puppy party at the vets last week, and he's going again today. He loved it - had lots of play time with 4 other pups. Typically, Paddy was the only one to leave a deposit on the floor
Are you taking Bella training, Claire? Now Pads has had his other injection, he starts classes at the weekend. The big wide world beckons!

Awww Claire,
What a proud mummy you must be :) and deservedly so...... It sounds like you have got everything spot on with Bella :)
Give her a big hug from us :D

Hi Phil,
Bella squeaked with the microchip as well - so would I with a needle that big! :(
But she seems fine in herself now.
I'm looking into classes at the moment - the nearest one near me starts in 3 weeks' time so I will be going to that I think. But the pup sitter will do lots of doggie socialising with her - she has 2 greyhounds and 2 cats and Bella will get to meet lots of other nice doggies as she does the rounds with the pup sitter (she is keeping her with her most of the day to begin with). She walks them off lead if possible - normally takes 4 - 6 at a time and once she's made sure they will come back to her, she lets them just run around and play together as that gives them much more opportunity to learn doggie language and etiquette than if they were kept on leads. She is very nice and Bella absolutely adores her so I'm pleased I found her!
Glad to hear Paddy will be allowed out soon as well - I can't wait to take Bella to the park for the first time, I think there will be lots of mad puppy running in circle moments! :D :D

I'm so encouraged to hear Bella and all the other pups that have come to their new homes recently are doing so well as its 5 weeks til we get our baby. It's great to hear your updates as it gives me an idea of what to expect as we haven't had a puppy before.
I'm hoping to pick her up a couple of days early at the weekend as Adéle will have had her operation on the Thursday and it would cheer her up no end. I enquired about vaccines today and they can be done at 8 and 10 weeks but my vet won't microchip until at least 6 months :(
