Have had to rush Skye to vets this morning. She'd been throwing up all night, diarrhoea and very poorly.
She got pancreatitis. She's been admitted at the vets and is on a drip. Could be there for a few days. I feel so lost without her. I've only had one night away from her in over 7 years. :'(

:bigarmhug: for you. Hurry home Skye.

Firstly, thank you all for your kind messages. It does make a difference.
Well, shes been on a drip all yesterday and overnight and had various meds and pain killers since yesterday. Shes not been sick so she was given water this morning. If she keeps that down they will give her some food this afternoon and see if that stays down and how the pancreas reacts. We went to see her and although happy to see us you could see she had the right ump with us!! She is staying with them again tonight so leaving her again was awful. Could hear her crying from the car park...... :'(
Anyway, if she keeps the food down and everything is ok, as shes reacted so well and quickly to the meds, she might be home tomorrow :D
Apparently pancreatitis is very common in spaniels and can be a genetic/hereditory thing so please, to save yourself what we have been through, and that includes Skye, make sure you know the symptoms for it so you can catch it early enough.
-
Thanks for the update :shades:

Finally got to bring her home on Monday, after her driving the staff mad wailing and whinging and ripping her drip out!! When we got her home it was quite clear that she had the right raving ump with us, and she ended up sleeping for 8.5 hrs in total before bed. I don't think she could have slept at all at the vets!! I stayed downstairs with her for the first night, and she slept the whole night snuggled up with me, with her waking up and covering me with kisses before going back to sleep. She is so much better now, but on a no fat diet, rest and back to the vets for more blood tests on Monday to see what her levels are like. Am soooooooo pleased to have my monster back!!
-
Glad she's home and feeling better :D
Fingers crossed for good blood test results next week.
-
So glad she's back home, wishing her a speedy full recovery

Chester my 14 year old CKCS had a bout of pancreatitis last year and was so poorly, but after a stay in the vets on a drip and he was home after 2 days. He's been on a low fat diet since and has had no further problems although he is a bit on the thin side. :D
