Hi all, Shaun & Julie from Coventry.
We see to always have had spaniels our last 2 being a Springer then a working Cocker.
Poppy our Cocker went to sleep Sunday 18th Dec after 14.5 happy years.
She had cushings and no treatment seemed to help and was probably diabetic or as good as when she passed.
A good friend greatly missed and a hole hard to fill in our lives.
We are taking her ashes to her favourite beach in 2012 as she was like a puppy always running about, chasing birds and paddling.
Now we don't have a dog at all and even after saying no more, we keep our eyes on the rescue forum for a potential worker pup or young dog as I have now started beating again.

Hello Shaun and Julie and welcome to COL :D
So sorry to to hear of your loss :'(. No matter how old our Cockers are when they leave us, they're never with us for long enough.
Good luck in your search for a working Cocker.

Hello and Welcome,
So sorry to hear of your loss, and hope that your trip to the beach will be comforting and healing. (Have you seen Terri on the rescue boards? She looks lovely, though not a worker!) Hugs to you both, and all the best for 2012.

Welcome to Col.
I'm sorry to hear about Poppy. It's lovely idea to take her ashes to her favourite beach where you have such happy memories of her.
I sure when the time is right a rescue cocker will choose you. Lots of tips and advice on here as a number of us have rescue cockers.
Good wishes for the new year.

Thanks to all for kind words, much appreciated.
I went to my first shhot in quite a few years, lots of dogs so felt a bit of a fish out of water, though great company & excellent day, bonus being only 10 mins drive from my home.
Picked up Poppies ashes Sunday in a lovely container and a box with inscription on that brought a lump to my throat.
I think it may be some time before we take on another, perhaps if we move with a bigger garden for kennel etc.

Where did yo go on your shoot? Losing a dog/best friend is so upsetting. When we lost our cavvy 15 years plus ago I swore I would never have another dog, but they do bring you so much joy.
