Title: Beef Heart okay?
Post by: Patp on January 18, 2012, 11:47:31 AM
Hi, my butcher has just given me a large beef heart for Jinley to cut up and freeze.  Do I give her this raw or cooked?  Does she have it for a whole meal or is it too rich?

Thanks

Pat

Yes, should be fine - I would give it raw and probably only as part of a meal.  Maybe mix 50/50 with something else like mince  ;)

Honey regularly has beef heart as a meal... she loves it!!!
We just give it on its own, raw.

Thanks, my butcher friend said it is full of protein and he would otherwise throw it away.  She will have some tonight and the rest can be divided up and go in the freezer.

Ollie love beef heart and has it raw on it's own. I can usually get about fifteen meals from one heart.

Hi, having gone through the pack he has also put in a pigs tongue - is this okay?

I can't see a problem with that.
