Poor Beri has been limping on and off for a couple of months.......our vet Mark has had him on Carprodyl but today he was x-rayed to see if anything more serious needed attending to. He is going in next week to have some sort of bone graft on his knee joint.
As usual my darling husband took him and is not sure why or what they are doing ( >:D >:D) I will ring the vet in the morning to get a detailed account and report back. He is just a bit subdued this evening, my poor wee man :luv:

We are seeing the vet on Monday prior to Beri having his op on Thursday. He has a ruptured cruciate ligament in his back left leg. Apparently this is quite common and he could have done it in various ways when running/jumping about etc.
The op he is having I believe is called a TPLO ( Tibial Plateau levelling osteotomy). He will have a plate and pins like a small piece of meccano in his leg joint. This op is expensive ( thank god for pet insurance) but it has a more rapid recovery and we trust our vet.
I notice someone else has opened a thread on ligament rupture but it seems to be about a different op. Will update after we have seen the surgeon on Monday.
Has anyone else had experience of this op ?

Beri had his op yesterday.........he is fine after a nights stay with the vet.......he has a shaven left leg and buttock and a big long wound but he has been a brave boy.
The vet thinks he should start to put the leg down in a few days which would be brilliant. :luv:

Thanks everyone.......he is already putting the leg down and walking on it........will just have to stop him overdoing it now :luv: he is hopefully going to have a few swimming sessions in a couple of weeks , he will enjoy that :luv:
