hi,
can anyone tell me why my laptop is flashing the battery sign when plugged into the mains?
I have unplugged the cable from the back and then made sure it is back in!!
it is getting really annoying now!
thanks

you sure the plug is switched on at the socket :005:

How old is your charger? Mine started doing this after about 3 years and I had to get a new charger as it was totally worn out.

Definately sounds like the charger is not working...before you head of to computer shop check amazon...got one for mums Toshiba for 6 pounds...shop wanted 25

thanks guys.
I will get the IT dept to check it out tomorrow, seems to have stopped again, very weird!!

What make and model is the laptop and how old is it? When you say it is flashing the battery sign is it the one in Windows at the bottom right or a physical one on the laptop that's flashing?

Sounds like it's a poor connection between the laptop socket and the pin on the charger. HP are well known for it apparently >:D I've bought spare chargers for about £8-10 on ebay

thanks guys
turns out the wires going into the power lead have been chewed!
now I wonder how that happened >:(

Oh gosh. Don't mean to scare you but please be careful if it was a dog chewing the wire. OH's best mate lost his 9 week old lab over Christmas after he chewed through a wire :'( so tragic.

Yep that's what my problem is - mine's a 2nd hand IBM T42 (I like using trackpoints ;))
