:'( and we don't know what the problem was. She started shivering and whimpering and just looked so unhappy. She'd get up and move and flop down again, be quiet for a while and then start whimpering again and looking at me with such big sad eyes :'(. I wondered at one point if she'd hurt a back leg or her back even as something just didn't look quite right. I called the vet and took her in as an emergency but by the time I got there she seemed fine. :lol2:
The vet was so good :luv:. She checked every inch, took her temperature and felt every disc in her back. All she could find was a small amount of visible discomfort with her rear left leg. She gave her a Metacam injection and said if worried to ring straight back anytime day or night.
I'm at a loss to know what it could have been. She seems fine at the moment so it's even more strange. It's taken me all day to get over it though. I've never seen her like that. I was so worried. I'm hoping that's it now and all is well. They do tug at the heart strings don't they.

Yes they do :luv:.....hope she more settled tonight and nothing serious going on. They like to keep us on our toes and our nerves dangling :005:

Nerves dangling just about sums up how I'm feeling this eve :005:. Feel like I've been through the washing machine on fast spin :005:

:bigarmhug: its horrible when they are poorly and you don't know whats wrong... your head goes into overdrive and before you know it you've diagnosed them yourself about fifty times over, each one worse than the previous!
Pleased to hear Maisie seems to be feeling more like her oldself now, maybe she trapped a nerve or something that just freed itself :-\ Hope you have a quiet night with her and no recurrence, large glass of vino for you me thinks ;)

Is Maisie in season at the moment?
-
Thanks everyone :luv:. Helen, yes she is which was my immediate worry. The vet seemed to think today was unrelated to womb infection/issue. Her temp was normal and heart rate as usual. She has clear discharge now,no smell etc. It's still on my mind though. I've seen how quickly those things escalate :'(
-
I was just wondering if she was off colour because of her season (wasn't thinking anything ominous ;) ) Hopefully that's all it was and she's back to normal now :luv: :luv: :luv:

Aww thanks Helen, you can see my glass was feeling half empty today, thinking the most awful things.
-
that's why I don't think I could ever have a bitch - seasons would terrify me and I would be taking her temperature every 10 minutes and fretting ph34r :fear2:
(boys and dangly bits seem far more simple to me :lol2: )
-
Hoping that tomorrow she is totally back to normal and your nerves can settle. :bigarmhug:
-
Hope Maisie's feeling better tomorrow xx

until you find yourself inadvertently tickling it because you're not use to having a dog with one :fear2: :009: :005:
I was going to suggest the same thing in ref to her season hun .....hormones do peculiar things to the body but good on you for staying vigilant at this special time .....I was always paranoid about any 'out of the ordinary' behaviour pre, during & post seasons :013:
Hope Maisie is all better now & finishes her season without causing you any more worries :bigarmhug: :luv:
-
I hope Maisie is feeling much better and settled today :luv:
They do worry us don't they, I was imagining all sorts when Charlie was poorly last week :o
:bigarmhug: for you both x

Yes, certainly a lot to be said for boys and dangly bits :005:. (well unless your name is LindseyP clearly :rofl1: :009:.)
Thank you everyone for your kind wishes. She seems fine this morning. She did give out one of her party-piece bloodcurdling howls in the middle of the night. Normally these days we'd just chuckle and go back to sleep. Course, last night I leapt out of bed and ran down the stairs with my heart in my mouth to be met by an excited cocker ready for a game, thinking it was time for breakfast .
So, it's a mystery. With a bit of luck maybe it was hormones. She usually just simply sleeps out a season :005:. She looked in pain though yesterday morning, and she wasn't walking 'straight' before she'd flop with her back legs stretched out, shake and whimper and refuse to move. Maybe as Lisa suggested could have been a trapped nerve. She's with me all day whilst I'm working so she'll be mollycoddled even more than usual today :luv: :005:

Pleased to hear Maisie :luv:
seems ok and that's good
that you are with her today,
at least you can keep a close eye
on her, which must be a comfort

If her back legs give out again, I would be asking the vet for an opinion xx
-
I'm with Helen on the dangly bits stake. ;)
Glad Maisie is feeling better.

Pleased to hear Maisie is feeling better - our eldest Millie was always very sorry for herself when she was in season ... very very sorrowful indeed :(
Hopefully it was nothing serious lots of :-* & :bigarmhug:

Awww Hun it's awful when they are poorly big :bigarmhug: :bigarmhug:'s to you and gentle little :-* :-* :-* for maisie x x x
-
Aww, thanks so much for your good wishes everyone. I watched her like a hawk all day and she is just normal, well as normal as one would want a cocker to be :005: thank goodness. Sheryl, if the legs look odd again I'll definitely be at the vets.
-
I am so sorry Nina, missed this yesterday :shades:
Just so pleased to hear that Maisie is feeling better today :luv: :luv:
What an awful worry for you though :'(

Thank you Wendy :luv:.
I omitted to say that although Maisie seems to be fine and dandy today, I aged an extra 25 years plus :005:

Ooh yes, mine too. Would be lovely to see you and Maggie :luv: again. It's this last bit she bloomin drags out a bit and always leaves me wondering if we are 'safe' yet :lol2:
