Can't put my finger on it but something is wrong with Sally and hoping someone here will be able to suggest what it could be. Sally seems unable to settle, she has been pacing around and spinning in circles all morning and when you do get her onto your knee she is trembling and seems unfocussed. Multiple times she has chosen to take herself off and got into her crate and then after spinning for ages settles down staring at the wall....She NEVER chooses to not be cuddled by her dad so this behaviour alone is worrying us. She is also panting loads and had to be persuaded to eat her breakfast. She seemed normal on her walk chasing the ball but she never had a poo. She doesn't seem to be in pain anywhere but she is just not right.
We are meant to be leaving her with my mum tomorrow while we go off for a few days but there is no way I am going to leave her while her behaviour is so bizarre :(
Anyone have a clue???
-
Is her season due? or is she consipated?
-
She's been spayed and never before seems affected...I did think maybe constipated...what would I give her if she is???
-
that could be stomach pain Theresa - sounds like Jarv acts when he has a gastric problem. He'd happily go for a walk but then when he was home he displayed those symptoms, definitely the not being able to get comfortable and settle - vet said that adrenaline gets them through stuff they want to do like walking!
If she'll stand for you run your hands down both sides of her body - when you get to her stomach she may sag or sit or show a sign she's uncomfortable.
I'd get her to the vet ;)
-
Thank you. She is settled for now so I will leave her a while and check her over when she becomes restless again...I really wish she could just say poor wee pet :(
-
Yip. I would have said vet too. She sounds uncomfortable. :'(. The only times Lyla has ever spun is a) when her glands were full and b) when she had a sewing needle stuck in her mouth ph34r. I know with Chloe that she could handle a lot of pain so if she did things out of character like not getting on the bed or not wanting a cuddle it was the first sign something was wrong. Hope you get her sorted soon xxx

I would get her checked by the vet. Charlie had stomach pain a couple of weeks ago and he was very out of character, I found him sat in a hedge in the garden soaking from the rain moaning to himself. When I got him inside he just couldn't settle, wouldnt respond to me - just stared into space and started throwing up everywhere. The vet thought hed eaten something that disagreed with him, he had a painkiller, anti sickness injection and was on small meals of bland RC tinned meat for a few days. After the injections he was a bit sleepy but he was comfortable.
The worst thing is not being able to ask them what's wrong, I hope she feels better soon :bigarmhug:

Hi Theresa, t definitely sounds like some kind of pain somewhere. Did she keep her breakfast in after eating it? no vomiting?
Jennie wouldn't settle because of her pain... she would pace and pace in circles and wouldn't lie down - all the pacing and the pain made her pants lots.
I would definitely recommend at least ringing your vet for an opinion over the phone - my vet now does a half day saturday surgery until 12:00 meaning anything before that time isn't emergency! Does yours? if so you could get her seen without it costing you £80!
Hope she's feeling better soon x

I'd be going to the vet too - this is what Jeff did when he ate the kebab stick, and if I'd waited he probably would have died. Also, if you go now you should avoid an out of hours charge (assuming your vet opens Staurday mornings) ;)
-
William is a very unhappy boy when he's constipated and will pace up and down, pant and even hide himself away in a corner or go and sit in the garden looking miserable.
As Sally hasn't had a poo this morning hopefully it's constipation and nothing worse like a blockage. But I'd be inclined to get her to the vet to be on the safe side.
Hope she's OK :bigarmhug:
-
I'd say go to vets too. I would rather pay for a consultation in surgery time than wait and find out you need the emergency vet. Go get her checked out for piece of mind especially as you had arranged to leave her with someone else.
I hope she is ok.
-
Same as the others have suggested Theresa....take her to the vets today :shades:
It sounds like she is in pain & if you are planning to go away for a few days it will be a constant worry for you :'(
Hope she is o.k. :luv:
-
Got her an appointment for 11.50pm...thank you for all your advice. She has not been sick and Dave has her back out now to see if she will poo so we can rule that out if needs be but there is definitely something not right with my poor girl as just found her hiding behind a chair :(
-
Hiding under furniture is a sign of pain too.
-
Hoping Sally gets on ok at the vets and it's nothing to worry about :bigarmhug:
-
Poor thing, it sounds like tummy problems to me too.
Hope you get sorted at the vets x
-
Hiding was what Lyla did before her back problem was diagnosed. I thought it was because all the family were here and it was too much for her. Not saying its back problems, just that it's one of the things she does when in pain xxx
-
Hoping Sally is feeling better soon. Fingers crosse the vet can put his finger on the problem and put your mind at rest :bigarmhug: :bigarmhug:
-
good luck at the vets! :bigarmhug:
-
Definitely sounds like pain, hope you get some answers at the vets and it's not too serious :-* :-* :-*

They checked her temperature and her heartbeat...both were up so painkiller administered and she immediately seems happier but still don't know why she's in pain :(
-
At least she will feel more comfortable, but sorry its still a mystery what is really wrong.

have they given her anything else Theresa?
-
Good that she is more comfortable now, but frustrating that you don't know the cause.
-
My rainbow girl Poppy was like that it turned out to be pancreatitus :'( has she eaten anything a little out of the norm?? x x x
Hope she is feeling better real soon :luv: :luv:

sorry I'm just overly paranoid since Jennie ... what did they say? in terms of what they think could be wrong after they examined her? If her temp is up did they suggest taking bloods? Or just wait and see how she is over night?

Nope but we are to bring her back in if she flags again...so far she seems to be ok and my mum says she'll happily take her in for us so I'll just leave my credit card with her and phone her multiple times a day...we're nae going far so we can come right back
-
If there is a chance it could be pancreatitis, you may be better to tell your mum not to give her any titbits like sausages or fatty cuts of meat whilst you are away.
