Hi all, I take Henry and Holly to the groomers to be clipped but they grow so fast that i'm thinking of having a go myself. I have clippers, scissors, thinning combs etc and I have been putting them on the kitchen table to be done, the only trouble is that they are both big wrigglers and it usually takes two of us hours and hours to just trim their feet.
Is there any way that I make the table like a make-shift grooming table, especially what can I use to make it non-slippery? and also any ideas how I can make an arm to tie their leads onto so I can do it by myself. I'm thinking some kind of metal pole but then how could I attach it to the table (without damaging the table).
Any ideas folks?

What I've done is to get a rubber mat from groomers online (I think it was) and put it on the ironing board. Works like magic. It is the wobble factor that does it. ;)

I've bought a grooming table and converted my shed in to the Millionhairs club. The shed has a permanent dog hair smell to it and there are tiny hairs covering everything I just wouldn't be able to cope if that smell was in my house along with normal doggy smell and wet dog smell. The only advantage that I could see for grooming in the house is warmth, but even then I have a heater set up in the shed if its too cold and I turn it on for at least 15 mins before I go in so I'm nice and toasty.
You could use a non slip bath mat on the table to stop them slipping , but if you've got a wriggly dog and you are unfortunate enough not to have been born with 3 arms ph34r you really should invest in a H bar because they are great restrainers. :D

I tried that with Misha, unfortunately the more she tried not to wobble the more she did - so much so she got a serious rock going -she just couldn't help herself :lol2:
I just have a turtlemat/doormat on the table along with a heavy chair (also on table) and I just have a training dog lead hung over the back of the chair and clip this to their collars. Thankfully they don't move about too much and its more to stop Roly lying down for a tummy tickle every 5 mins.

I bought a workbench from B&Q to groom Taz - although i havent put the "arm" on it. It only cost about £20 and doubles up at storage space for their food as it has a bottom shelf as well.

It's very good quality and comes with an arm - I don't think an arm and mat would cost much less :dunno:
