Hi
not sure if this is too far for you, but Hadlow college are doing one day dog specific grooming courses,
several COL'ers are already booked!
http://www.hadlow.ac.uk/study-at-hadlow/course-details598.aspx
might be worth looking into if you have family down this way?

Ohhhhh yes I know the perfect place in Bedfordshire that teaches how to groom Cockers!
here's the link http://www.posh-dogs.co.uk/ It's a six week course 1 day a week.

That doesn't link to anything, plus when I searched dog grooming on the site nothing came up  And, it's one of the worst web sites I've seen >:D

it looks as though the Hadlow college have just re-vamped their site - the old one was bad enough to navigate, but this is ridiculous! >:D
the course is not showing, but it does say they are waiting for the new prospectus.
all I can advise, anyone wanting to see if there are any plaves left then phone them and ask for the breed specific dog grooming course.
they were running day courses @ £40.00 and had a choice of three different days, you can take your own dog to practise on! ph34r

Please - can anyone Help!
When I got Geordie, the breeder told me it would be best if I had him hand stripped rather than clipped. i live 300+ away from the breeder so searched for a groomer near me to do it. I thought I had found one (she said she could) but having never seen a hand stripped dog, I had to believe her. Geordie has been to her 3 times and, after his visit yesterday, I met someone who told me that he definitely had not been stripped but had been clipped (I have paid for stripping which is twice the price!) >:(.
She also told me that his coat has now been ruined and I can never have him hand stripped now - is this true?
Advice on this would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

If h has been clipped a couple of times than yes generally you can never bring his coat back to a handstrip
Its the same as when a dog is neutered the coat changes rendering hand stripping almost impossible
Where are you located at?
I would go into the groomers and ask how she has handstripped him and that you have been told that the do looks clipped - the coat should feel very soft an smooth and should not feel like its been cut do you have a picture that you can put up?
-
Thank you for coming back to me so quickly. It makes me so mad that I have no way of reporting this groomer for what she as done. i tried to ask her about the cut when I went to pick up Geordie but she just got aggressive in front of a shop full of other people picking up their dogs!
I will try and post some photos but not sure I know how to do this as I am a 'newbie' on the site.
Thanks again for our help and support

Whereabouts do you live? There may be someone who can recommend a cocker-savvy groomer near you who will do a better job on Geordie. Has he been neutered?

Hi there
I live in Stockport, Cheshire. If anyone can recommend a good groomer near here (or within 50 miles as I am willing to travel for a good groomer) I would be very grateful.
Thanks
