HELP... just found this site after buying my new puppy paddy..
Seller was not helpful at all
What do i do to front line paddy?
-
Hi Paddysmum. What age is Paddy? I'd be wary of using chemicals on a very young puppy unless there is a good chance of him picking up fleas, ticks etc. i'd speak to your vet for advice.
-
His 12weeks the seller just told me i need to front line him was very confused didnt think i would need to do that for awhile she like myself didnt really no what she was talking about not very helpful at all really paddy is my first cocker so after searching online to find the answer i found this site.

I agree with this post, although some treatments can be given to dogs younger than 12 weeks. Does Paddy actually have fleas now? If you part his coat with a comb, and look at his skin, have a look for tiny pieces of what look like dirt which could indicate a flea problem. Also, is he scratching at all, can you see anything that looks like a flea? If you are not sure, have a word with your vet.

The house I got paddy from the women didnt have a clue it wasnt very clean if im honest and was over run with all kinds of dogs.. paddy is iching himself which makes me wonder if he does have fleas .
-
Itching can be a symptom of fleas and in such a crowded environment it's more than likely. I really would take him to the vet if I were you, sounds like he could do with a check up. If he has got fleas, you will need to treat all your furnishings as well. I'm sorry you've had such an irresponsible experience with the lady you bought Paddy from.
-
Have you taken your puppy to get his first checkup at the vets? The person you bought your puppy from sounds a little suspect :-\
-
doesnt she just ..
paddy is due his injections next week but didnt no if i should do something sooner? Am i to blame an is this hurting paddy that i need to act now?
-
If he has got fleas he'll probably be uncomfortable and they'll be irritating him. If you ring the vet you can ask their advice over the phone.
Apart from irritating your pup, if he has got fleas and you leave it you run the risk of getting fleas in his bed/your carpets/furnishings which will make it more difficult to get rid of

I probably would take him for a checkup now, I always have done when I first brought a puppy home just to make sure there are no issues. My last cocker had fleas when i got him and came from what i suspect now was a puppy farm, there are too many bad breeder out there, unfortunately. I don't think it will be hurting him but it will be uncomfortable :luv:
-
Im going to get him in the vets tomorrow,To be on the safe side thanks to all who messaged me back what a great site this is can see this being a big help for me and paddy :D
-
He will scratch himself sore, so it's best you take action now, if you can.
Edit:
glad you're taking him to the vet tomorrow. Let us know how he gets on, bless him :luv:
-
I will do thanks everyone again. :D

So paddy has been to the vets he doesnt have fleas but he has a skin condition an a infection in the eye which has caused him to be partly blind in the left eye iv reported the breeder to the vets an RSPCA as the vets have said she is a. Poor breeder so sad today poor paddy :-(
-
Ohhh, poor little mite :luv: Oh dear, these "breeders" really want shooting. Will Paddy's partial blindness get any worse? Hugs to you and Paddy. :bigarmhug:
-
Partly blind in one eye due to hid breeder as the infection was not cleaned and mum didn't clean pup as the breeder separated her from her pups as she wasn't a good mum she said' and yes it may get wrose paddy will be doing back in 3weeks for a checkup but untill then I have aniboitics to give him :(

Sending lots of hugs to you, thank goodness Paddy is now in the care of someone who will give him all the care he needs.

-
Oh poor wee Paddy! I hope things improve now he's with someone to look after him properly. That breeder wants beating with sticks!
-
Paddysmum please be reassured that their are a few owners on here who have Cockers with varying degrees of eyesight problems. This truly is a wonderful community with kind people who readily give help and advice, so if you ever need any advice or help this is a great place. Your little Paddy may not have had the best start in life, but he can have a wonderful life now he is with you. Looking forward to pics
-
Oh I am sorry to read this, poor baby. As Jaybee says, dogs cope amazingly well with things like this, at least the problem has been diagnosed and hopefully can be stopped from getting worse :luv:. I hope the skin condition clears up soon too.
As for the 'breeder', I have no words >:D >:D
