I can't believe it. Poor Delilah has disc trouble again.
I was beside myself this morning when she did it - though I have no idea how. She was just on the floor in the bedroom and took off with a yelp, like she was trying to run away from something and then couldn't get in to her bed.
Managed to get her in to see our usual vet (he's only easing back to work after a period of illness). We are going to try crate rest and see how she progresses. It worked last summer so I'm trying to be positive that she'll recover again. He did say I could go down the MRI and surgery route but I really don't think I could put her through all that, she's been through enough this year already.
I was in bits this morning but now I'm just taking one day at a time and feeling calmer.

Thanks for all your kind words.
It's heartbreaking to see her. She's such a good girl, she makes no fuss. It was bad enough when she did it last summer but this time she seems worse, I guess it's because she can't use her front legs in the same way. She's flopping all over the place when she tries to sit up and change positions.
But she ate some breakfast out of my hand this morning so that's the positive for today, she wasn't interested in food yesterday.

Bless her - bound to make a difference this time because of her front leg, guess its just a bit more awkward for her :'( Everything crossed for your girl tho... she's a little fighter thats for sure :luv:

She's on metacam, which seems to be doing the trick. She doesn't seem to be in pain but today she is very fretful - not happy when I leave the room.

Aye, Lyla used to be the same. I found that I had to drag the crate wherever I went! It slid on the carpet fine so not too much of a problem x

We had a bit of a set back over the weekend, she became incontinent and can't stand without support.
Back to the vet this morning and while he agrees her condition has deteriorated he said it isn't a disaster and he has seen dogs in a worse condition recover without the operation. She still has some withdrawal reflex in her back feet.
So we're back to the vet on Thursday so he can make sure she's not getting any sores and I'm hoping that love and patience will do the trick again for her.

Ok, I know it's just my opinion but if that was Lyla I would be asking for that referral right away. One of the reasons John was so pleased to see Lyla when he did was because she had retained bladder function. She is totally your dog but I would be asking to see the specialist. :-\

Delilah is making good progress.
The last time I posted on here she couldn't stand unsupported - my problem now is stopping her from tearing around and keeping her still, in the last week she seems to have come on leaps and bounds quite literally :005: She gave me heart failure this evening - she was lying in the garden having a snooze while I was doing some jobs. I went out to the bin and when I came back she was in the house looking for me - she had jumped up two steps to get in!!!
It's still early days, but I'm keeping everything crossed that she continues to make progress - she's a tough little lady :luv:
