Title: accident in Crate
Post by: pud1954 on July 15, 2012, 09:28:33 AM
Good morning I would appreciate some thoughts. Mack is now 10 1/2 months old a super little man and has never had an accident indoors. He is crated at night and always put out before bed although he asks if he needs to go other than that.Last week he had a grass seed in his ear and was off colour the vet removed it and gave me ear drops for him. He has been very cuddly all week and at times refused his kibble but would eat other bits if offered and no other signs of anything not right his poo has been normal. This morning when I came down he had messed big time in his crate I did notice he has been eating a little grass in the week but read on here this is normal.I have cleaned everything and bathed him and he seems back to his usual bouncy self. But I haven't given him anything to eat so should I or just give him plain rice today.

Diawotsits mess? Or just big poop mess?
Did he have oral medicine for the grass seed incident?

It's probably a good idea to give him light meals, rice and chicken is usually good, a dollop of bio yoghurt can also help.

Obviously keep an eye on him today / tomorrow and see how he is.

Hope he feels better soon  :luv:

I'd say he's perhaps been feeling a bit under the weather all week, from what you say.   Messing in his crate - there will be a reason.  Eating grass usually makes them throw up rather than have effects at the other end.   It is normal - Jess seems to have a particular liking for one sort of grass and will chew it for ages, we think she just likes the taste - but it can also mean that they aren't feeling altogether well.  Hard to tell which it is!

I'd stick to a light diet for a few days until it is clear that everything is fine again.  White rice and either chicken or white fish.  Be careful with yogurt, dogs cannot digest lactose and although there is less in yogurt than there is in milk, most commercial yogurts still have a fair amount.
