Title: Limping Cocker
Post by: smellydog on July 15, 2012, 04:22:04 PM
Cooper started limping last Sunday til about Monday Dinner time then did'nt limp again until Friday afternoon and is still limping today , sometimes limps a little , then not at all ,then starts to limp again ,
I examined his paw and cant find anything ie grass seeds , cut pad , so am presuming its a pulled muscle/strain.
Any advice regarding walks/exercise should it be no walks at all , small walks , normal walks , he normally gets about 2X45 mins per day , since Friday I,ve been giving him 2X10 minute walks on a flat grass field but maybe confined to the garden for a few days would be best , not sure what to do for the best. He's 2 yrs old btw
Cheers for any advice.

I would stop all exercise for now, just let him into the garden and try to stop him doing too much (ie no wall of death moments ;) )

I'd also be trying to stop him going up and down stairs.

I think though that I'd be popping him along to the vet, just to check that there isn't anything else wrong.

Is it the same leg? Do you walk further at the weekends than in the week? And when you say limping, is he putting any weight on it at all or carrying it?

Hope this helps :)

I agree with Heather.  Harry's physio always recommends no walks for a couple of days after he seems OK then gradually build it up again
