Hello,

How old are cockers when they first go on Heat for the first time or is it different for them all? I cant remember with our last one - thanks

It varies from bitch to bitch  :shades:
Jo Jo was 10 mths old, Nina 15 mths & Georgia just 8 mths.  :blink:

Mollie was exactly 9 months and her 2nd one came 6 months to the day later  :angel:

Hi

Are there any signs prior to my working Cocker having her first estrous cycle :huh:
She is 5 months 1 week old and I'm thinking about 6 months for this breed of dog.

Your comments would be appreciated.

It can be anything between 6 months and 2 years, it just depends on the individual dog; I wouldn't necessarily expect it to come along at 6 months as that is at the very young end of the spectrum. Caoimhe was 11 months at her first season and Cocker bitches at work have varied between 8 months and 18 months. Some of them show some signs of being a bit hormonal, clingy, generally off colour etc. but again this varies from bitch to bitch.

I have merged the two threads on this topic as they are asking the same thing and were both posted today.
