Title: Am I asking too much to want all this from a toy?
Post by: lollie on October 05, 2012, 07:36:55 PM
# It needs to squeak
# It needs to be soft for a puppies mouth
# It needs to be non shreddable
# The squeak needs to be able to take some hardcore action!

I am really struggling to find Toby a toy that is soft, but he can't destroy. He loves chewing soft things, but there is only so many times you can mend a mangled soft toy! Anyone have a toy they would recommend for a chewer?

xx

It's a myth I tell you. The toy you seek only exists in fairytales!

I'm not sure it would stand puppy teeth or a real chewer, but Willow has latex squeekies, at least 4 years old.  She prefers new shoes to chew on  ph34r (in fairness to her, that was a long time ago  :lol2: - I hadnt even worn them  ph34r >:D)

The only thing that Tilly has not destroyed is the skineez critter toys...she loves them.

Bella has had a 'handbag' for 5yrs, it goes everywhere, she took the handle off within a few days but since then it's here comfort toy, in fact she's resting on it now.

Molly loves her ikea rats, she has one in every colour, all tailless.

Molly has successfully destroyed 2 of these  :005:

Roxy has the Skunk and the Fox, both in good condition and because there's no stuffing in them you can get them washed and dried really easily.

She also has a Kong Cozie, they've got stuffing in and a squeaker bit has a toughened under layer that is supposed to make them more hard wearing.

Ooh just realised we have the skunk and fox too...they are both in 3 separate pieces and she split the speakers in a few minutes and now they just rattle >:( and she's certainly not a toy destroyer!

Jolleys have one, like a bone in a Leopard skin muff, soft fluffy and with a squeak that sounds like a demented mouse doing morse code. Our Bertie has had this from day one of ownership, he has not managed to shred it, destroy the squeak or pull it to bits!

Darcey has a leopard print bone cushion with a squeeky in we got it when we first got her and it's now her comfort toy she plays with it but doesnt chew it. It's survived 2 years now.

Not fluffy-soft, but Ollie's favourite toy is his squeaky kong tennis ball. He's never destroyed one and the squeaker 'takes some hardcore action'!

Bingley has a "hear boy" penguin from pah but I can't find it on the website. It seems to be lasting well.

:005: That's probably why you can't find it - it's too hard wearing so you never buy another, they've probably discontinued it!  :005:

Toby has the pheasant one (or parrot according to OH) It has lasted 2 weeks, and now its wings are hanging on by a thread.

These are pretty good, my OH's 15 month old Lab is even worse for destroying toys than my lot but I got her one of these Tuffy's toys a few weeks ago which she really likes and so far it's lasting ok. She has Wesley the Whale who is an 8 on the 'tuff scale' :005: They're all soft and I think most of them have squeakers.

Barney had Wesley.  He did last about 6 months, which is really good in our house, before Barney managed to make a small hole in the top of him.  I told OH Barney just wanted to add some realism by making a blowhole.  My boy is so clever.

I was going to suggest skineeez, as these are the only thing that Ebony "the serial soft toy disemboweller" hasn't managed to pull apart the same day. The squeaker is now hanging outside one of the skineez bodies in its nylon sleeve but it still squeaks.

I now have a repair kit handy and most of her toys look like Frankinsteins monster they have been stitched up so many times. You can buy toy squeakers or what I do is save the ones from toys I can no longer repair and replace as necessary  :005:

:lol2:  Alice's Wesley will undoubtedly end up shredded at some stage but if he lasts 6 months that'd be a record for her so far. I might order the Ultimate Squid for my lot, they didn't have him when I bought Wesley but he looks great and rates a 9 so might last for a couple of extra months :005:
