I am thinking of going to this show whilst still searching for a new puppy - however I emailed the Devon and Cornwall sec via their website but have had no reply. As a complete novice at attending shows do I just turn up or do I need to book in advance? The website pdf states that it opens at 9 and judging starts at 10. Is there any best time to turn up?
Also will we be welcome as we will just be looking and hoping to meet up with one or two of the breeders who might be able to help us with a puppy.
I can't be certain of attending as completion on our new house is on the Friday and we move all our stuff over the following few days but I am hoping to escape to the show for a while. Daughter's wedding 2 weeks later so talk about everything happening at once!

If it's an open show you should just be able to turn up.
If judging is from 10 onwards you probably want to go for 10ish. Before that, there won't be much going on; it's just people setting up and getting ready.

The Devon & Cornwall Cocker Spaniel Club Show is held at the Culm Valley Sports Centre, which is open to the general public. As long as you are not taking an unentered dog in to the show, you will be perfectly welcome to walk in :D

Oooh, this is a stones throw away from me. I might try to go along to see what a well groomed, well behaved show cocker should actually look like!! :005:

This show is a Championship Show so there will be plenty of Cockers to see and breeders from all over the country. Judging will be going on all day with perhaps a break for lunch so you can turn up any time and stay as long as you like. One of the judges is Frank Kane who some may know from past TV coverage of Crufts :blink:

Is everything ok for this show with the flooding in devon? Has anyone heard anything?

I will sadly have to miss the show as driving from Dorset many of the roads are flooded - and we are moving house and I just can't manage it all. I am beginning to think I am just not meant to get there this time.
But if it is on I would love to see some photos or reports of the show.

Cullompton is only just off the motorway and apparently all is fine there so no worries re the show.
Homebird, sorry you won't be able to make it this time. Photos and results from the show will be posted on the Club website as soon as possible afterwards

Thanks jane, phil is fretting about the weather! He keeps seeing things on sky news and getting worried. We've never been able to make it to this one before so looking forward to it xx

It is wet and wild down here and the rivers are running VERY high but the M5 is running freely and Cullompton is very very close to it so i would imagine everything is still OK.
