Hiya
We are looking forward to getting a Cocker Spaniel in the New Year, and so we have started to think of names.
Our favourites so far for a boy are: Jenson, Jarvis, Morgan, Einstein, Elmo and Nelson. For a girl we are thinking of Amber, Willow, Holly and Jasmine.
So the question is, if you were to get another Cocker what would you call it and why?
-
Hi! From the names that you have there I would have to go with Einstein. I will soon have at home an Isaac (newton) and I had also thought of the name Einstein. For a girl I like Jasmin, it sounds very feminine!
Keep us up date on the name
-
One of my pups new owners have choosen Duke for their boy and I think it suits him down to the ground.
Definitely a name I would have considered if I were to keep a boy, instead we're keeping a little girl named Bella
-
I love Sophie and Lucy for a girl, for a boy I like Romeo!
-
I like the name Maddison for a girl - shorten to Maddie.
Our short list for boys: Spencer, Morgan, Brook, Chester, Benson
-
I like Darcy for a girl or boy and also Scout for a girlie  If I was going for another boys name it would be Chester
-
:D I like names which make you laugh. My OH says it would be funny for 5 minutes :(
If I have another dog and its a boy it will be called Dave and if its a girl I'm calling it Dixie or Ethel.
My friends all think I'm mad, but I think its hillarious to go to the park and shout DAVE!
I also like
Misty
Lula
Looby
Tiggy
for girls and
Jasper
Woof (from an american web site of dog names as is the one below - again
Fetch my sense of humour was tickled - ooohh "Tickles"
Sorry - have you thought of calling him "Sit" think of all the time you would save training. :D I'm no use am I?
I like Jasmine and LURVE Einstein (same as dog in Back to the Future)

Our short list for boys: Spencer, Morgan, Brook, Chester, Benson
Seeing as it's you, I will allow the name Brook to remain on your shortlist ;) :P You know, I've still never come across another male Brook - think my boy was unique B) You can imagine the looks I got when I came up with that 12 years ago - if I hadn't dug my heels in, he would have been Sandy
Anyway, my next one will be a girl, and she will be called Jersey. I thought of that name a good while back and really liked it, and then i watched Coyote Ugly and a character was given the nickname Jersey Girl. That just made my mind up for me - absolutely love it :D But seeing as Disney hasn't even had his 2nd vaccine yet, I've got a bit of a wait
I know a couple of Einstein's - one is a mad Golden retriever and one is a mad Springer. I think their owners have a very good sense of humour  I love the name Jenson B)
-
I love human names for dogs, mine are Daniel and Oliver, shortened to Danny and Ollie. We did think about Wayne (after Rooney, but befrre Euro2004 :D ) and Brian (from the life of Brian), but we chose Ollie after Jose Maria Olazabal, and Dan is Daniel the Spaniel. I like Percy for a future boy, but that's a really long way off. Jenson and Jasmine are nice, and for a girl I also like Aureilia (Love Actually) :D
-
Have to say even though shes our foster baby I love the name Paris, I also like Drew for a dog and Ella for a girl
-
I think that the name as to fit your puppy. We had Jasmine from birth as she was one of Molly's pup's and when we said that she was going to say with us we started to look for a name.It took us till she was ten week's old. First she was Goldee then Fuge, Peanut, Bisto, saffy, the listed went on and on.

I do too (and for my cats who are Frankie and Eddie). I'd love to call one Bryan as well (after Bryan Ferry) but now I have a brother in law with the same name so I won't go there LOL.
I like Stella or Harriet if it was a girl and may be Morris for a boy or Nigel or Harry
I always knew my 1st pup had to be Ruby long before I got her as when I was househunting the lab pup in the house I eventually bought was called Ruby and it just seemed right (Ruby cocker's sister lives 10 min away and she's also called Ruuby but both their mothers were called Richian Storm Gem so it was also obvious they should be Ruby).

Definitely a name I would have considered if I were to keep a boy, instead we're keeping a little girl named Bella
I may be biased but I would say this was an EXCELLENT choice of name :D
-
If we had another girl it would be Daisy or Saffron. A boy would be Henry or William.
-
What you mean is when you get another this is what you will call him/her karen. Not if we get another.
-
iVe just had my first litter and i had named them all myself because they had there own personalitys. some people did change them but the pups were not to know cos they were to young. but i had

Penny B, just noticed your cocker was a Richian - my 5 month old Charlie is Richian Jewel in the Sand from Richian cocker spaniels in Cardiff. Is that where you got Ruby from?
-
I love Tilly for a girl and Murphy for a boy (going back to my Irish roots for that one :D )
-

Yes they're both Splott (Cardiff) dogs from Richard (Richian cockers). Is Charlie's mum Chloe, if so that's also Ruby's mum (her dad was Tashann Thunderbolt). If Charlies anything like my two (Wilf's also a Richian dog) they're quite bold, confident pups (mind you Wilf was more laid back than Ruby).
-
Hi Penny. Can't remember what Charlie's mum was called but her official name is Richian happy go lucky and the father is Roberto at richian. Mum was a solid black and Charlie is a golden. He is very laid back and soft but fairly confident as well. Since we got him last August he's been no trouble at all - an absolute angel. Mind you that could all change! I know someone else with a Richian and he's got a lovely nature as well. How old are your two and what colour?
-
Well plenty of ideas for names there then :D
I like Murphy as well, I think at the moment that Jenson is the favourite in the house, but no doubt we will think of lots more before we actually get it.
Decisions, Decisions!

Chloe is a blue roan so it couldn't be her.
Mine are both blue roans. Wilf is now almost 17 months and Ruby's almost 2-1/2 years old now. Ruby's a little madam/demon in disguise (but a softie underneath all that) and Wilf's so laid back he'd fall over sometimes (he slept through his 1st jabs) and the cuddlemonster of the two---both are confident but very different personalities. Even though I also socialized them straight away they just seemed so ready for the big wide world and took everything in their stride and neither were shy.
-
If or should I say when I get another cocker, I will be calling her Willow, to go with Rosie, Daisy, Poppy and Jasmine
-
hubby says no more dogs after Chloe and Holly go but I've never listened to him before so why start now? :D
If I had another girl it would be Jade and if I picked a boy it would be Bramble :)
-
I love calling my animals after the names of other animals (except for Daisy of course - OH doesn't share my enthusiasm for weird names!!) :D
My faves are:
Badger (so cute for a little boy dog)
Fawn
Squirrel
My Mum also had a pony called Spider which I thought was cute too!
-
Being mad on films the pets get named after characters, so I have a cat called Maverick and my first cocker is Neo...
We were then supposed to get a girl tricolour and call her Trinity, however, we ended up with another boy and Hubby caved in and let me call him Jovi (after Jon Bon Jovi.. and god could he howl when he was small).
I had Storm, Rogue and Macleod on my short list.
My next cocker (if I'm ever allowed another) would be a black or black & tan, and we'd call him Morpheus... So that'd mean I would need to have a blue roan and tan girl and call her Trinity!!!
-
I quite like Gill's theme of American place names :D so will probably hijack that idea sorry Gill  Abby's show name is Princess Vegas, so also on the list for the next cocker are Phoenix, Dakota, Texas, Minni as in Minnesota, Georgia, Missy as in Mississippi but then all of these depend on my other half and daughter so I will probably end up with names of Footballers or Busted
Michelle

I know someone who has the following pets;
Rum, Coke, Brandy, Port, Guinness, and Pernod.
I have a Scully and an Oscar but previously I had; Sasha, Harley, and Floyd.
If I ever get another cocker (Sorry, I mean WHEN!! ), I'd like either a orange roan to be called Yogi or a blue roan to be called Archie.
-
If I were allowed another little girl, I would call her Ruby (gorgeous name). If I were allowed a little boy I would call him Teddy (Edward being his Sunday name :D ).
Someone mentioned the name 'Tickles' earlier - well one of our cats is called Tickles and he is so gorgeous, the other two are called Lillie and William :D
From your choice I really like Einstein - imagine shouting that in the park, it would be excellent
-
I am torn between Amelie and Lucia for my pup when she arrives sometime in early-ish 2005 (when I find her!) :)
-
My faves are:
Badger (so cute for a little boy dog)
Fawn
Squirrel
excellent choice of name if i may say so myself by the way :D
-
Peggy for a girl because it's very cockerish :D .
Archie for a boy because I like it :D .
-
Apart from Silas, my other pets have been called Giles, Chivers (ginger tom) Boogie and Trubshaw.
-
I forgot to mention my childhood animals....
Oliver
Chutney
Flopsey
Frodo
Mead
Ted (aka Mr Bear!! Most wonderful cat that ever existed :) )
Perry
Sophie
My aunt had a black cocker called Zebedee (Zeb for short) because he was so bouncy
-
I like Basil for a boy and Sybil for a girl :D there off a certain television programme. i think they would sound great together. :D
If i had a boy on his own, i would call him Shankley or Red :P
-
Think i will call my nest cocker 'Hoover' as thats what he does everytime we go out, hoovers the floor of food he can find :D
-
LOL Jilly
When I still had Sasha we used to call the two of them Hoover and Vax....Sasha was the hoover (black) and Scully the Vax (golden)!! I'd forgotten we used to do that until you just reminded me
-
Think i will call my nest cocker 'Hoover' as thats what he does everytime we go out, hoovers the floor of food he can find
We nearly called our last cocker Dyson for this very reason!
-
I used to have a golden hamster called Harry. He was the sweetest natured hamster ever.
I used to take him out in my top pocket and he'd sit and peak out at the world.
I had 6 russian hamsters too, I couldn't tell them apart really, so they were just called 'the ruskies'.
And our 1st cocker was called Dusty. I never really liked the name, but that was her name when we rescued her.
-
 made me laugh 'Dyson' ha ha  Think we are a mad bunch really, thats why we own cockers! :P
-
Woody is short for "Braidwood" which is my father's middle name. As I refuse point-blank ever to have children, calling our new dog Woody seemed the next best thing and thankfully my father didn't mind!!! :P
Our second favourite name was Alfie (after my husband's grandfather).
Girls names: we liked Lucy and Honey (after Tupelo Honey - my fave song by Van Morrison).
Next time we're going to call our little boy ... now no nicking this because it's genius .... Maximus Doggamus Son Of A Bitch .... (Russell Crowe eat your heart out!!!) which will no doubt be shortened to Max. We nearly went with that this time but apparently Max is one of the most popular names for dogs and we didn't want to be common!!! Maybe by the time we replace Woody (which I don't even want to think about :( ) Max will be less popular ....
