Lewis has a sore ear.
« on: March 06, 2013, 08:04:45 PM »
We have a cocker show on 16th March (I think). I decided to get Lewis stripped in plenty of time so last week started the hand stripping. I was sorting out his ears when I noticed a matt at the bottom of his ear. Started to sort it and then thought I was a little exuberant as there was a small bald patch. 2 days later the bald patch was very obvious with inflammation so went to the vets. The vet did skin scrapings as I have had experience of issues that needed this previously (with another dog). No signs so he has been treated with ABs and cream. Just finished the ABs and still losing hair. Today I have soaked his ear in a jug of warm water (he thought it was great) and got rid of the scabs (sorry to be so graphic). Some sign of hair regrowth albeit very minor. Any one else had this problem? Don't think we will make the show next week but just worried about my boy.

Lynn if there are signs of new hair growth, I would think that things are healing well. Hope it continues.
