Dandruff
« on: March 12, 2013, 12:38:46 PM »
I have noticed that Seve has what looks bit like dandruff, he is not scratching so can't be itchy. He has been on a raw diet for a few months and he has salmon oil in the morning.
He's in good health otherwise any ideas?
Helen

Riley had a lot when we first got him. The vet advised evening primrose oil, We buy the groomers one from pets at home and add 10ml each day to his food, He also gets salmon oil at his night time food.
The evening primrose worked brilliant and within a few weeks the dandruff had dissapeared.
Might be his skin is quite dry just.

If it's just light dandruff perhaps a change of shampoo would benefit
If it's heavy and your pup is showing signs of stress then maybe it could be a skin problem >:( Stress reduces the naturally produced vitamin C in a dog and too compensate you could try a red apple :004: peel off the skin and chop into small pieces this should boost the vitamin C level which helps the skin condition, reducing dandruff ;)
