Puppy not eating new food!
« on: February 03, 2014, 10:28:06 AM »
Hi there

I recently decided to switch my 13 week old puppy onto nutriment raw food (as my two older dogs are on this). So we have finished the end of the bag of symply puppy, and mixed a bit of that in with the nutriment puppy food. I gave her the food this morning and she took one sniff of it and started crying, sat there for 10 mins without returning to the bowl! My older dogs enjoy the food, but what can I do with pup? Should I try her again in a few weeks or keep persevering? I have 5 packs of it in the freezer!

We was on symply puppy with water to soften plus a little Lily's kitchen wet puppy food and sometimes a little chicken or grated cheese on top. Any advice appreciated!

Thanks, Sarah

Could you try flash frying it for just a few seconds to release nice juices and smells? Might entice her.

If she's happy and doing well on symply, does she need to change?  If she needs to be on nutriment then you'll just have to persevere.

Have you tried feeding it to her at room temperature instead of straight out of the fridge?

Like Emma, I was going to suggest flash frying it also.  Jinley is raw fed, and I still flash fry some of her meat to make it more enticing!

Hi there, yes I did serve it at room temp, but perhaps I will try quickly frying it then. The only reason I was looking to change her food was just that my other dogs are happy with it and just made sense to get it all from same place! Will see how she gets on with it lightly cooked. Thank you.
