Fudge is nearly 15kg and there is not an ounce of fat on him - he is just a stocky, muscular dog and when he has been in the water he looks skin and bone!!

We are weighing him tomorrow - he is a big hairy monster at the moment and is off to the groomer tomorrow and this, coupled with the fact we have been fell walking for the last 3 weeks should see a slight weight loss but if he hasn't lost any then I am not too bothered. He looks fine - as does your lovely dog.

You definitely can't tell from a picture.  Here's Amber the day after she came to us in a similar pose to Willow.  At the time she was only two-thirds of her ideal weight with prominent ribs but you wouldn't think so to look at this photo.

Glad you are feeling better about it now.  We are just back from grooming Fudge and also weighing him.  He came in at 15.4 kg.  Here are a couple photos of him before and after.  In the first one in the caravan last week he looks a right fat knacker but he isn't. You can see from the second one taken a few minutes ago how lean he actually is.

Thanks twiceover2 and walshies now you have shared your pics i can see what you mean.

Jayne i was thinking about what you said about the working dogs being leaner at this time of year and willows breeders dogs are worked so will be thinner than willow atm. It doesnt help that she has one of willows litter mates so will be comparing willow to her and she doesnt have a fluffy coat....

As a puppy i was struggling to keep weight on her but not anymore  :005:

Walshies, next time you go fell walking do you want to take willow? Might trim her up a bit  :005:
