Gemma's had her spay op

All went well on Monday, she came round with all guns blazing. She has slept alot and has not tried any acrobatics. Today she had her post op check up.
 This morning she has lost her bubbly self. keeps sitting down, even sat down to pee instead of squatting. At the vets they removed her dressing (gemma has showed no interest in her wound) and although signs of a good healing, she has a swelling on one side. we came home with another dressing (she now keeps licking the site)and Clavaseptin (anti bi) and Meloxidyl (pain killer) It is plain that she is in a degree of discomfort. Was wondering if any one has an idea how long before pain killers kick in. Another thing, she has developed a cough. could this be down to the anaesthetic procedure. we have another appointment on Monday for a further check up.
The spay is a good thing for her because every season so far has been followed by a phantom pregnancy, but I am sad that I have put her through this (unforeseen) extra pain. :'(

Hmm not sure about the painkillers
but I imagine they should kick in quite quickly,
anti-b's take about 24-48 hrs to start working and yes
you are right , her cough may well be due to being
intubated during anaesthesia and should settle quickly
also.

One very good thing about the spaying is she will not have to cope with seasons and false pregnancies again and that will be a relief all round, for you and her  :luv: :luv:

well turned the corner. had a zoomie around the room and had got interest back in her toys. still comes to a full stop followed by a sudden sit but not as often. she also howled the house down when we left her at home while we went shooting. now expecting a good report when back at the vets on monday  :lol2:

hope Bailey's op goes well.
 After a  infection Gemma is now back to normal, she had her first off lead run around today. Stitches coming out on Friday. Lovely 3" scar which she shows everybody. Must say her equafleece has been a godsend. While wearing it she paid no attention to her dressing or wound. Hopefully now she will get some fezzie flushing before the end of the season  :D
Glad now we had her done, although would have liked some little Gemma's running about  :-\ :fear2:

Awh she is such a cutie, same colour as our Bailey. So glad Gemma is back to normal. Bailey way better too, stitches out in 5 days :)
