I understood feeding kibble and raw is actually not so good as they digest it at different rates (24 hours as opposed to ca. 12 for raw,) thus increasing the risk of problems like Salmonelle etc?. But maybe I'm contradicting myself in my previous post - raw is natural and we shoukdn't make a science out of it!!  ;) :005:

Thanks for the info! That actually makes sense and is probably important to keep in mind! Natural does not necessarily mean good or safe, so science is always relevant :D So much to think about!

I live in a salmonella free country though. But of course there is e.coli and other potential dangers and you can always be unlucky. Mostly she gets egg yolk and beef raw, and I eat soft boiled eggs and rare steak so really, she is as safe as I am. Fish I'll usually boil, unless she gets a head or a tail when we're fishing and she is with us.

I joined the raw feeder fb, just to check basic  facts.  I soon got fed up the fanatics,  and people boasting about how many body parts they feed their Bulldogs!  As a baby  I shared my pram with a bulldog puppy. I'm sure she did well on the the Chappie and big winalotbiscuits  mum bought her.
Commercial food at least provides basic legal requirements .

I've left all the fb raw feed groups.
Just got too stressful.

Prince is on raw but i'm debating whether or not to carry on. He doesn't enjoy it much, it's a faff to get here in rural Wales and quite messy. I'm recovering from meningitis so my energy is limited and the whole raw thing is getting too much for me.

I feed Raw for most meals but I don't stress over it, I use minces from pets at home tripe, chicken and beef.
Teal has twice the amount of chicken as tripe or beef for the bone content, offal is meal of liver or kidney once a week from the super market. Breakfast 3 times a week is a tin of sardines or mackerel again from the super market.

Sundays Teal has the same as us a cooked roast with all the veg ( sprouts are still banned)

Treats are tripe sticks, dried sprats and gravy bones the dried sprats being the favourite.
I fish so there are often fish in the freezer that are past their best in taste for me and Sue so they become a dinner for Teal hence the trout and scrambled egg

I really think folks make far to much about raw feeding I don't believe just raw is a natural diet for dogs the have evolved along side us eating our foods as well as what the could hunt and kill.

When I started keeping dogs there was no kibble or RAW diets, dogs got scraps and the odd tin of chappie or chum and guess what they lived long healthy lives
