Housetraining- he's taken several steps back!!
« on: January 07, 2007, 04:08:02 PM »
Hi, Dave is now 15 weeks old and I think we have been very lucky with him up to now- he has never been a problem at nighttime or even chewed much that he hadn't ought to (except us!).
His house training was going really well and we were hardly getting an accident at all but suddenly this last week it has gone wrong! He is weeing inside much more and not giving us signs like he had been doing. We haven't changed his routine or his diet or anything so we are quite confused.

Could it be down to teething? Have his sore gums upset him? Any advice or experience greatly appreciated!!

Hi!  We were the same with barney.  You think they've got it and then they go back to the beginning.  I got some good advice on here.  We got quite complacent about praising barney when he did go because we just kind of forget to do it and took it for granted that he was toilet trained and that was that.  You need to totally praie your wee pup every time they go outside.  From what I've read on here it seems most people have this problem with  house training and I read somewhere that it can take anything up to 10 months to fully housetrain a puppy.  Barney is now 14 months and we are near enough confident that he won't wee when in other people's houses!  Just remember praise  :D

Thanks. I will start being over the top with praise again then! AsI say generally he is a very good puppy and 15 weeks is still very young.
