From angel to demon in 6 days
« on: September 02, 2008, 09:25:43 AM »
Rosie was spayed last Wed she went into the vets an angel so well behaved. :luv:
She has turned into a little horror, the op went very well. The vet said try not to let her jump on the sofa,go upstairs and just very short lead walks for this week
I blocked off the stairs, and put the cushions up on the sofa but she has found ways round jumping on the sofa, has chewed her toy box, and keeps belting around the house like a mad thing  :-\ she has starting barking at my other dogs, the television and anyone thats goes past the front window. She is trying to playfight most of the time which she never did  :-\  I took her for a walk last night and she pulled and jumped on her back legs all the way down the street, thankfully my dad came along as I would never have managed with the other 3  :-\
Its amazing how lack of exercise has affected my little   I just hope when she is all healed she reverts back  :luv:
I haven't been this stressed for a long time  :-\ keeping her chilled is being a HUGE challenge.
Just hope when she goes back to the vet on Fri he says all is good

When your dogs were spayed did you have similar problems? or has the anaesthetic frazzled her brain  :-\ :005:

A quiet moment recovering  :005:

Not too many problems when spayed, but then I did lead walk Willow.

BUT, when she had a grass seed the other week, and was told no excercise for 7 days, she chewed my wooden bedside cabinet, and I was at home when she did it  >:D   As soon as we started walkies proper again, no probs. I didn't think the 'no excercise' thing was going to bother her, because she's a lazy madam.  I'm sure once things get back to 'normal' she will be better.

We'd only had Katie a week or so before she was spay at 18mths old, so I had no idea if she would be quiet or not.  Once the gas had worn off, well there was no stopping her.  A right little tazmanian devil  >:D.  Henry was 6mths old at the time, so he wanted to chase around just as much as she did.

ps.  I love that picture of her  :luv:
Mummy loves her angels - but they're not angels all the time - They love to chew and charge about - but mummy doesn't mind

Only just seen this.

Oh dear Jo, I hope she gets a clean bill of health tomorrow and it won't be long before she can expend her energy in other ways.

Jo

Last weekend was a nightmare for us, Indie was just bouncing off the walls and she was only allowed short 10/15 minute walks until her stitches were out which is why I was so relieved when Monday came as I had given up trying to stop her jumping.   She was racing round the garden like a lunatic - it must be all that pent-up energy which is not being relieved by an on-lead walk.    The cat had more chasing that normal.   >:(  I said I'd confirm the off-lead walking with my vet, not sure if I sent you that msg  but the vet confirmed that she could go off-lead as from Monday which she has done.    Back to normal - worn out at night.   :D

From looking at the photo, how can she possibly be a demon  :luv: :luv:

Not long for you to now before she can release some of that energy.

Coco was a nightmare too - she kept trying to do the wall of death round the garden, leaping off the steps, jumping up all the time........... in the end I had to keep her on the lead even to have a wee in the garden.  ::)  Her stitches started to bulge and I was worried she was doing herself some damage.  After a week the vet said just let her do her thing - thank goodness, she was driving us both nuts.  Just goes to show what cockers are like if they do not get enough stimulation and exercise and why some people end up unable to cope with them   :-\

I do find that doing some clicker training indoors is quite a good way to keep her occupied and tire her out a bit when she can't go out and charge around.  ;)

Hope Rosie gets to all clear tomorrow and she can get some proper exercise  ;)

Well naughty Rosie has been back to the vets for her discharge check up after being spayed, and she is fine  :luv: but now very naughty, she really has turned into a horror  >:D Before being spayed she was so quiet, would sit nicely on your lap(even at a dog show) and was good in general, sometimes abit timid around other dogs  :-\
Now she is horrid, she barked and barked on the way to the vets and also whilst seeing the nurse  :-\  plus stratching my arms to get down  :-\  today I returned to work after 6 weeks off and she has destroyed 2 dog quilts and left me a nasty mess to clear up (she is/was housetrained), and has been barking her head off so neighbour says  :o    she is a nutter belting around the house like a lunatic.  >:D

I think someone swapped the baby  :luv: :005: in the vets.

We have one more week before she is off lead, I will need valium before then  :005:

Poor you. I hope your perfect Rosie comes back soon. I think she has been possessed by the ''I neeeeeeeed to get out monster'' Eric has been possessed by the same demon for 10 months now  :005:
I'm sure she will be back to normal once she can get some proper exercise.

Oooh is Rosie a late developer like Indie and is going through the naughty Kevin stage.   We had the naughties before she was spayed but the op seems to have taken most of this out of it or she has gone through the stage quickly.   She was at one point, head butting my legs for attention and barking at me for my attention, ignoring commands, jumping up at me whenever I got the lead out, shes stopped now thank god and has gone back to  Indie.

Glad naughty Rosie has had the all clear, hopefully its just the lack of exercise.  :005:

Oh dear, sounds like the op awoke the 'Kevin the Teenager' stage.  ph34r
Hopefully when she can get a good run off lead she'll start to calm down a bit.
