Giving Vitamin C, 500 mg. per day (the human kind is fine) can help acidify the urine and help dissolve crystals. Start him off at 100 mg if he is having diahrrea (sp?)

If it's bright red blood in the stool, there is usually some kind of irritation lower down in the bowel. Try feeding chicken and rice, or not feeding at all for 24 hours and see how it goes

Krumble had this for a couple of weeks as a side effect of a urine infection. He kept straining and pee-ing in the house. Luckily it cleared up with antibiotics but they did say if that didnt work he'd be put on a prescription diet. Apparently it is more common in cockers than other breeds but its usually cats that get it.

Mum to cockers Lily, Lance and Krumble and lurchers Arwen and Lyra. Hooman sister to Pepper, 13.

THANK YOU!! TOBY IS FEELING A LOT BETTER TODAY. NOT SEEN A POO YET TODAY SO I AM SURE THATS A GOOD SIGN. AS FOR THE STRUVITE CRYSTALS THE VET SAID IT'S A LIFE LONG CONDITION. HE HAS TO BE ON PRESCRIPTION DIET FOR AT LEAST 3 MONTHS, THEN IF WE WANT WE CAN PUT HIM BACK ON NORMAL DIET FOR 6WEEKS THEN RE-TEST HIS URINE AND TAKE IT FROM THERE!
