Urine Stains
« on: September 24, 2008, 12:16:26 PM »
Hi everyone

Has anyone else noticed cocker's with tails have more urine stains than the ones without, >:(  I'm having trouble getting the stains out of my light blue roan and tan girl.  :luv: i have used Cowboy Magic and White on White but had no luck.  >:D Can anyone suggest something that has worked for them. I don't seem to have the problem with the girls without tails.

And yes it is yellow not tan  :lol2:

Katie gets this on the inside of her feathers when she's had a wee on the decking.
I pop her in the bath and rinse off with a little coconut shampoo and conditioner and then really rinse it off well.  It seems to the trick, and she's and orange roan ;)
Mummy loves her angels - but they're not angels all the time - They love to chew and charge about - but mummy doesn't mind

Do you have to wash Katie every day? I washed River and it comes straight back as soon as she go out to pee >:(

I think she just has fur that soaks up liquid. I swear she only has to stand near a puddle and it gone up her legs  :005:

It depends to be honest.  I rinse her down every couple of days, but don't shampoo each time as I don't want her to get sore IYKWIM.  She gets her 'bits' washed every weekend with shampoo and conditioner.

She's not like it all the time, it just depends how low she's gone to the floor when having a wee.  Most of the time she's on the grass, but if it's been raining then they're confined to the decking area.

River goes very low to the floor sometimes she lays flat on her tummy with her leg spread out side ways  :005: perhaps that is the problem she is very submissive and a little nervous  ph34r

Lily still doesnt hold herself very high off the ground and tends to get stained in her feathers on the inside of her legs.  She doesnt get it into her tail feathers, but I trim them so they dont get too long.

Like BabyB I wash her regularly to clean her and use conditioner to help protect her hair...it doesnt get rid of the stain but it minimises it.

sounds crazy but we use baby wipes every time he has been to the loo  :005: and have done this since we brought him home.  He gets his feet wiped and the feathers on his underbelly which is where the wee drips go onto the coat - so far so good - one quick wipe each time seems to stop the coat from staining and stops him from getting smelly - presumably you could use them on your puppies tail area - they are about £3 for 3 packs of scent free ones (Asda's own make) and last quite well with only one dog.  ;)  I don't know how you go about getting stains out once they are in the hair though I'm afraid.   :-\
