My cocker Eric is such a Mummy's boy it is unbelieveable. He is constantly badgering me for cuddles and is always under my feet. But here is the good news for you, we introduced Lucy a few months ago and Eric is absolutely fine with it. He still gets the lions share of the cuddles but lucy muscles in too  :luv: So we have huge cocker hugs plus a 3 year old child most of the time as well  :D
As for introducing them. We took Eric to meet Lucy first and then they travelled home together in the car and we just took them straight into the house together. Eric has just accepted it and got on with things.
We have had a couple of fights over toys and food but they are very few and far between.
Good luck

Roly does this as well if I'm giving Misha a cuddle - he'll try and wriggle in between the two of us.  Misha give a low growl of disapproval usually, but thats about it.

Hello there, welcome to COL!

Lots of dogs are like this, my cocker will barge in if I'm having a cuddle with my Weimaraner and the Weimaraner will sit on our heads if I'm having a cuddle with OH  :005: It never becomes jealous and neither of them will guard us from the other so usually it's nothing to worry about.

To make the introduction go as well as possible, if it was me, I'd cool it a little with your current dog before getting your new pup so that less of your attention isn't a shock to her. Key to it is just carry on as normally as possible when the pup arrives. If there is any jealous behaviour ignore it and don't reward it by giving the jealous dog attention, just walk away. Try not to attribute them with human behaviour too much though because they do think and behave differently to us...  ;)

Very exciting for you!

I have found the cockers more jealous than my Springers - they are both quite possessive of my attentions and Alice has growled at Rufus on a few occasions to warn him off!  I ignore it and walk away and they are the best of friends seconds later.  It's all pack reshuffling at the moment though as Rufus is the new kid on the block!
