Mine zig zig constantly and never stop moving whereas the show cockers seem much more sane

Lyla who is my 2 year old show cocker does this all the time.  In fact she doesn't just zig zag, she does the complete stop dead right and left angle turns too :005:  She does it the minute she gets outside in the garden until we have to drag her in or she would stay out running around all day.  I think she would give some workers a run for their money in the energy stakes but I really do feel she is an exception to the rule!

I have 2 working cockers and it sounds like you got very unlucky in getting such an energetic working cocker.

not unlucky - this imho is quite normal for a working bred dog - I think less active workers are more the exception  ;)

I must have got very lucky then i have two.  :005: Or maybe I read too many horror storys and was expecting much worse than i got.

My girls are active however we do our four fields and a sniff in the woods which takes up to 2 hours and includes them running around like mad hatters in circles over the open grass fields where we take them. I am sure the farmer would think he had crop circles if he was able to look down from a high view lol. I try and do that at least 1 a day, twice if the girls needed it. However i do take them everywhere i go with me in the car or by foot. So they probably get more. At home i find a pigs ear after arriving home helps to calm them down. I am going to my dads tonight and my girls will come with me and give grandad a run for his money lol.

Thankyou soo much for all your replies! I've thought long and hard about this for months and i've now decided I will be getting a show cocker.  :luv: Your replies and the posts on this forum have really helped. Ok, i understand some show cockers are more hyper than others but thats fine as i live in a rural area, lots of walks etc. I think with my working cocker, she needed a job! I wasn't enough, but for a show cocker i think i could offer a good home!

Infact i have already spoke to a lady with a litter and one pup is available. some of the people on her list wanted a dog but the litter were all bitches! I had decided to ring a few breeders about their dogs etc and couldn't believe it when one had a puppy available! They are only 3 weeks old at the moment and im gona visit next week. I feel all nervous about the whole thing now lol. :luv:
