Swollen Ear
« on: August 08, 2011, 03:49:15 PM »
We think Alfie was stung by a wasp this morning.  :'( Horrible things they are!

He was having a wander around the garden with DH this morning, when he lay down on the floor and cried, not yelping in pain but a general whiney cry. DH noticed a wasp close by walking on the floor, and brought Alfie in. He cried for about 10 minutes then went to sleep.

He slept most of the morning then at about 12 he yelped in pain when he moved in his bed, and when I checked his left ear was hard and thick all the way down, and he cried out if it was moved or touched.  :'(

He went straight to the vet but it was impossible to check if it was definitely a sting so she gave him a steroid injection and asked us to go back at 6. He's slept for two hours, with a lot of crying in between, but seems to have woken a bit perkier. I think the swelling may have gone down slightly, so fingers crossed!

We're not having much luck, he had a cough the day after we had him, then this, and we've only had him just over a week! He is piling on weight though, he was 4.5kg on Saturday and 4.8 today, hope that's normal!!!  :o
