colour coat testing
« on: August 10, 2011, 08:03:33 PM »
Can someone  please tell me if I had my black bitch colour coat tested what would it tell me ? I know that sounds stupid and I know black is her dormant colour, would it tell me what other colour she carries, I have tried to read up on it but end up getting more confused  any advice would be most helpful

You need to test for a specific colour, they can't just tell you all the colours they carry.  When we had Dylan tested, we were checking to see if he carried the B-Locus....the brown coat colour.

what colour where her parents! what colour are you looking for, my bitch is from blue parents, but she produced me blue/tan pups from 7 generations back, I got liver roan back there as well, so we might get that appear one day!

Dylan does have Liver roan in his pedigree going back, so just wanted to see if he carried it, but he didn't, which is fine, just nice to know.

My Inca, his mum I didn't know she carried the & tan gene until the litter with Dylan was born and we had 3 of them, along with blue roan and orange roan.
