First walk
« on: January 17, 2012, 12:28:05 PM »
So a bit of advice from you people with more than 1 pooch please.

When i take Candy for her first walk im planning on taking Missy with us to show her the ropes etc + Candy is quite nervous so im thinking it might help her out a bit.

Is this the correct thing to do or should i take her on her own ?

Well Candy has been for her first walk at lunch time  :luv:

She was really good on the path round the field but was scared when i took her along the main road.

For the past couple of weeks ive been carrying her when ive taken Missy for a walk so she gets used to the sights and sounds of traffic etc. Doesnt seem to have worked  :005:hopefully she will get used to it

Aw bless her!
I'm sure she will get used
to it; it must seem so noisy
and strange to them at first.
Quite different being carried
to being on the ground and she is
only little still :luv:

she will get used to it.... :luv:

My ebony was just 2 when we bought our gypsy home as an eight week pup, like you i carried gypsy on every walk until she could go down. She was still terrified of everything for the first couple of days of walking but im sure that carrying her around definately helped.

Just be aware that not only will your older dog show your pup the ropes, they will also teach her all their bad habits... :005: :005: :005: :005:

Bingley used to sit down and refuse to budge on 1 walk. I think he's gained more confidence walking him separately as I didnt want him to learn to rely on Darcey. He's v confidant now  :D
