Health Care Plan
« on: February 04, 2012, 02:33:18 PM »
We have changed vet practice for Cupar (see previous thread "Im scared") and the new practice has a health care plan : £13.99 per month payable by direct debit = £168 per year.
The plan provides:
.Two complete health check consultations to include
.General heath, Ears,Eyes,skin & coat,weight,nails,teeth,microchip check
.Also Annual Booster vaccination,Worming Treatment,Flea Lice & Tick treatment
.And also offers 10% discount of neutering, pet passports, dental extractions, swim sessions in rehab centre (they have a reha centre 5miles from us)
Would value you opinion on this as we are not sure whether to get it or not (we are under no pressure from vet)
Does anyone on COL have one of these plans with their vet ?
Do you think its value for money or a waste of money !!!

Hi our vet has the same plans. We took out a puppy health care plan (female) which covers all injections..microchipping..worming..flea treatments monthly consultaion with the nurse for weighing etc...spaying and 18% of food. We payed 50 pounds up front then 22 pounds per month but paying for all the treatments above we have saved 80 pounds over the year so for me it made financial sense considering vet charges 170 pounds for spaying alone

that seems like a bargain from where I'm sitting!
Our annual boosters alone cost around £80, and then £30 every 3 months for frontline & wormer.. and 10% off a pet passport isn't to be sniffed at! :)

My vets just recently started doing this towards the end of last year. I think they also give a discount on kennel cough vaccs and run special offers on the JWB food that they stock.

I think it's a great idea but it wasn't worth doing for me as I don't routinely use flea treatment and I use a different wormer than what they sell. I worked out I would have been paying out £300 for 2 vaccinations instead of £80  :005:
