Walks out in cold weather
« on: February 05, 2012, 08:10:57 PM »
Hi all.
My 1st post  ph34r
Our pup Sam has just finished his injections & a week clear so we can now walk him etc.
He's now 12 weeks old.
Is it too cold out for a walk ?
I was reading about bathing ur pup & every1 was saying fully dry the pup and make sure to keep ur pup
indoors to warm up etc so a bit worried about walking him in this.
Any info greatly appreciated.

Mick (and Sam  ;))

At his age you will only be walking him for a short time, use this opportunity to get him used to being rubbed down and having his feet dried with a towel after a walk and it is a fantastic excuse for some extra puppy snuggles to warm him back up after his walks.  He is  :luv: :luv: :luv: :luv: :luv: :luv: :luv:

He's very gorgeous!

As he's only 12 weeks old, the longest you'd have him out for is 15 minutes. If they're busy when they're out they keep themselves warm, but it helps to have a coat or blanket to wrap them up in once they come in / get in the car etc. However, if he's shivering or looking cold, I'd bring him straight in.

I bet he'd love playing in the snow!  ;)

He is a real beaut!

Same here, can only take Dex out 15 mins at a time at the moment so when he gets in I have a towel on the radiator ready and wrap him in it and give him big rub down and lots of cuddles so he enjoys it!  He tends to keep pretty warm if he is bounding around!  You are going to enjoy the walking so much, makes you feel like a real dog owner once you start getting the little ones out

Cant see the pic as they get blocked at work

Anyway you will be fine taking him for a walk. You dont want to take him to far at the moment anyway. Just give him a dry when you get back home again.
