Everyone is advising me not to go for a solid Cocker!

What is so bad with Solid Cockers? It's stressing me out now!

I had Archie Groomed today and mentioned to my groomer that I'm going to get another Cocker soon (still looking and researching)
and she said 'oh lovely but stay away from the solids as they have temperament issues' she said she can base this on with the 2 cockers she's had in the past and most of the dogs she currently grooms.

I then had my lady who delivers my food turn up and I told her about my intention of another cocker and she said 'what colour are you thinking of getting?' as soon as I mentioned choc/tan all I heard was 'don't go for solids they are very snappy'

I introduced myself to my new neighbours who have kids my kids age and I asked them if they had a dog, they said no and I said 'I have a lovely Cocker' and the neighbours ask me what colour I have to which I said golden and they was like 'omg is he gonna be aright around my kids as I've heard the golden cockers are snappy and get rage!

So after today I want to sack my groomer, sack my food lady and shoot my new neighbours in the head! and don't get me started about a breeder I came across today that lets their pups go at 7 weeks! Grrrrrrr

please cheer me up and tell me not all solids are bad?


Sod it! my cocker is golden and is the best dog with the best temperament you can ask for!

Well I've never heard so much rubbish in all my life! I've got a golden (the worst of the worst?) Shes the softest dog I've every met. I really don't think you can base the temperament of a dog on the colour. I bet it's coz of the red rage! Grrrrr.

I have 2 particolours now but my first 2 Cockers were a gold boy and a black boy. They were both delightful.

Golden boy Josh was cheeky, exuberant and very affectionate. The worst you could say about him was that he didn't like giving toys back to me and would walk away (not a guarding issue, he just wasn't good at sharing) :lol2:. He was a very confident dog with people and very skilful at avoiding trouble with any pushy dogs that we met.

My black Cocker Sam was a gentle soul. Very cuddly with people he knew but a bit shy with strangers. Josh loved everyone but sweet Sam loved those he knew and gave his heart to me.

The only reason I now have particolours instead of solids is that I fancied a change of colour. Nothing at all to do with temperament.
