Jarvis has been off colour for a few days, and after spotting him struggling to eat I checked his mouth this morning and realised that he couldn't open it, and screamed when I attempted to do so. Took him to the vets where she couldn't really examine him due to his reaction, and she said it's most likely to be masticatory muscle myositis. He's been given a course of antibiotics and anti-inflammatory drugs to hopefully help.

I've had a quick google (and searched on here) and haven't found masses of info on it. I'm particularly interested as to how long it's likely to take to get better if the drugs work and the likelihood of it recurring. I'd appreciate if anyone has any personal experience they could share. Thanks! :)

So sorry that your boy has this :( I really don't know much about it, just that its often immune mediated. Has he been put on steroids? He's going to need soft/ liquid foods until he's less painful I would think. I hope he responds quickly to the meds and is on the mend soon :)

So sorry he's having problems, don't know about the condition but you should notice some improvements just down to meds within 48 hrs of taking them.

Hope he's better soon.
