Silly question but . . .
« on: August 17, 2012, 06:47:07 PM »
I think Lily's coming into her first season, she's 8 months old.  Her vulva is swelling but as yet no blood.
My concern is, she's  weeing a lot, I mean like every 10 seconds when she's out but only a few drips, then she'll move on and a few seconds later squat again!!!

Could she be scent marking or should I be concerned about a possible water infection??  I'm not sure how long it's been going on as I only got back from holiday yesterday but noticed as soon as I took her out walkies, she's not so bad when not out walkies but she is dashing into the garden for a dribble more often than usual. From what I can see/smell, her wee looks a normal colour and isn't smelly.

Any advice welcome please, she's the first dog I've had since I was a kid that's not a rescue so seasons are a relatively new thing to me.

Thanks  :luv:

I think she could be scent marking as she is doing it so often. My recommendation would be to keep an eye on the situation and if you are at all concerned either hang around - (someone more knowledgeable is sure to know), or phone your vet for advice.
Remembering Smudge 23/11/2006 - 3/8/2013, Branston 30/8/14 - 28/10/22, and Minstrel 24/6/13 - 13/8/24 all now at the Bridge.

This was one of the first signs I noticed with Penny when she came into season.

sounds like she coming into season....my girls all scent mark when in season....be careful not to let her off lead as occasionally on a first season the blood is minimal and she may be further into her season than you think.... ;)

Ahhhh right, she was showing some signs of coming into season before we went away so the 'signs' started about 3 weeks ago but her bits have swollen sometime during my hols.  She's also licking herself 'down there' not seen any physical signs that she's in but if not it's definitely imminent.

I'm very lucky here as it's quite secluded and we don't see another dog from one day to the next where we walk but I'll be extra vigilant for the next few weeks

My Skye had her first season at 9 months and she was constantly weeing, even indoors  >:D just little 'dribbles' everywhere, thankfully once her season started it stopped.
