tips on getting sore spot to heal

Pepper has a sore under his front left leg from a grass seed. i try to keep it covered but he must be licking it as i can't get it to heal over, has any one any suggestions please?

earlier this year Bailey had a tiny cut on his paw and overnight he licked it raw, i got a trainer sock and cellotaped it over his paw gave him something to chew for a bit and he forgot about the sock and it stayed on whilst i was out at work ,i taped it high up over his ankle but not too toght , i took it off to bathe the foot and then put it back on again, dont know if your boy will keep the sock on but its worth a try

Marley had a grass seed in between her toes, I got it out but it left a very small open wound.  Like Pepper, she wouldn't let it heal and was forever licking it    I bandaged it and put vetwrap round it.  This worked BUT in Marley's case it was not the end of the story.  A couple of days later, I got Marley out of the car and there was a MASSIVE open wound with another big grass seed there. It had erupted through her skin  . I got it out but as the wound was so large (the size of an egg) we needed to go to the vets.  There wasn't enough skin to pull together to stitch so it was just cleaned up and dressed and we have to go every 3 days to have the dressing changed. It is slowly closing now and looks good.  This other seed must have migrated up her leg from the original site of between her toes.
I am not suggesting this may have happened in Pepper's case, just relating the story.
I HATE, HATE, HATE grass seeds.

No advice sorry but just my sympathy to you all and poor Marley
