I have no wish to sleep on his bed, so I guess he has no wish to kip on mine.

:005: :005: Or sit and stare as close to them as I can whilst they eat their dinner - like she does to me!!  >:( >:(

The only problem you might encounter is that once upstairs, it may be tricky to get them back downstairs should you need to. This happened with my old cocker who when she went to stay with my parents when we were away, created merry hell when she had to sleep downstairs. For this reason, despite loving her sleeping on our bed, our new puppy (5 months) is still downstairs in her crate and will stay there for the foreseeable future, although is allowed up for a cuddle at weekends. We are very lucky though in that she is the first dog I have know who will sleep in, I woke her up at 9am this morning!

Our other dog Bo has always slept in our bed and when we got Kol we agreed he would stay downstairs, night 1 he was upstairs, then we agreed he could stay there, but in his bed, then he started to jump up for cuddles when our alarm went off, so we agreed that was fine, then he learned to jump on the bed. So now we are buying a superking size bed because the bed is not big enough or the four of us   :005:

Funnily enough I had the opposite problem. My bridge boy Dickon always slept in the kitchen with no problems until I went to NZ for 3 weeks. He stayed at my parents - in their room  >:(. When I got back he refused to stay in the kitchen. We compromised and I let him sleep in the lounge on the sofa until he was diagnosed with cancer and then he slept with me.  I liked it so Archie has been allowed in my bed from night one! He loves a lie in too!

No right or wrong in my opinion on this issue. Whatever feels right for the owner I say, mine sleeps downstairs and is never allowed in the bedroom never mind on the bed. I have no wish to sleep on his bed, so I guess he has no wish to kip on mine.

Quite right & agree  :003:

I have all 4 dogs, plus a little old pussy cat snuggle up with me at night  :luv: ..... sometimes there's a bit of jostling for room & the odd grumble now & again but when he does that, I just send my OH to sleep on the sofa .... I'm not having any of that alpha  male nonsense in my bed  :005:

If your dog thinks you're the best.....don't seek a second opinion!!

None of our dogs have ever slept in the bedroom, let alone on the bed (except for the odd night if they weren't well - then always in their own bed on our bedroom floor).  It was just something we never did!  Ozzy sleeps in the kitchen, but, if I didn't have an OH to cuddle up to, I might just allow him to sleep upstairs with me!  ph34r  :005:

Lila sleeps on the bed and I miss her if she's not there.  The downside is sand and half chewed bones in the bed plus have to change it nearly everyday due to muddy footprints. I would rather she didn't sleep  on my pillow but every morning I wake up with a little face on top of mine  :luv: :luv: :luv:

Enzo is 10 months next week and I cracked 2 weeks ago - desperate for a lie in one Sunday morning I let him up after breakfast. 3 hours later I was waking him up - he was flat on his back, head on the pillow  :005:
It's a Sunday morning treat only (before I change the bed!) and he sleeps in his crate downstairs at night no problem. As much as I am sometimes tempted to let him have free run, this way I know when he goes to my mums or elsewhere over night he will settle in his crate no problem. He's got such a good memory and is such a determined little thing if I let him once he'd expect it every night!!
