Sensitive food for non sensitive dog
« on: February 23, 2014, 04:46:26 PM »

I have one of my cockers Jodie who due to Inflamed Bowel disorder can only tolerate duck based food & has been on Royal Canine Duck & Tapioca & I use Burns Sensitive Duck & Rice for treats & the odd meal.

Recently tho Jodie has been getting less tolerant to the Royal Canin food my specialist did say this can happen so I have now changed her onto the Burns which she is doing fine.

I now also have a puppy Jaz who is 6 months old & still on puppy food what I am wondering is It would be good if I dont have to have bags of different food will it be ok when the time comes to put Jaz onto adult food to put her onto Burns sensitive with Jodie ?

I already of two other Cockers on Senior so at the moment I am buying senior, puppy & sensitive so just wondering if Jaz would be ok on a more sensitive food against just adult

There should be no problems at all in feeding Burns Duck and Rice to Jaz. The food is formulated to supply all the nutrition a dog needs (the web site actually says that!) and the "sensitive" label means pretty much nothing because it is not defined. It can be given to adult and senior dogs and  as long as your dogs get on well with it it will be fine.

My (year old!) puppy didn't do well on dry food with grain fillers, so he's on Simpsons 'sensitive' (and potato range) as is my other adult dog. They're both doing fine on this. The 'sensitive' label on this food just refers to the grain free element - it's balanced and fone for most dogs if a bit more pricey.

Willow was on Royal Canin sensitivity control when she was younger due to colitis, after a few months when her tum Settled i looked for a sensitive food that had better ingredients and settled with Barkibg Heads fusspot, salmon and potato and we've never looked back. She loves it and her tummy was/is fine.  ;)

Archie (7 months old but on adult food now) is also on the sensitive (grain free) Simpsons Lamb and Potato and he's not sensitive to anything.  He adores it!
Both taken away from us far too soon. x  RIP Angels Odie & Archie, causing mayhem at the Rainbow, no doubt!

Thanks for the replies

Its is difficult to try & balance the needs of one dog that sets the presidence due to health conditions, but when Jaz is older I will try her on Jodies food & see how see goes
