Worming/flea treatment advice
« on: October 10, 2014, 04:52:16 PM »
Hi all.

Just wanted advice on what the best worming and flea treatment are.

Bella & Bailey , now 6 months old, have been having monthly Advocate treatment at the vets.

I asked the vet today if it was best to continue this worming/flea combined treatment or use individual worming and flea treatment she said that it didn't cover tapeworm.

What do you guys use and how regular ?

Thanks in advance.

Milbemax for the worms (from vet)

Advantage to sort out the fleas - bought online, but if you are a member of your vet's healthy pet club, they could both be included in this - I would check b4 buying online
Remembering Smudge 23/11/2006 - 3/8/2013, Branston 30/8/14 - 28/10/22, and Minstrel 24/6/13 - 13/8/24 all now at the Bridge.

Milbemax every six months for tapeworm and monthly Advocate for everything else. Both supplied in six monthly quantities by our vet as part of their healthy dog scheme.

Wouldn't buy prescription drugs online as there have been reports of fake or out of date drugs being supplied in some instances.

There are some very good and reputable online suppliers with UK addresses, run by vets, don't sell POM without a prescription from the vet etc., but always read reviews before using one.

I use Pet Drugs Online for William's Optimmune ointment (for Dry Eye) and have every confidence in them. I pay £12 for a repeat prescription from the vet every 6 months and can then buy Optimmune for half the price than the vet can supply it.
