Dolly dropped off for her spaying this morning.
« on: November 17, 2014, 11:19:00 AM »
Kim dropped Dolly off with the vet this morning for her spaying and stopped with her until the pre-medication kicked in.
Hopefully we pick her up this evening all going well.
Silkie was booked in as well but she decided to go into season a couple of weeks ago and therefore she has been postponed until next February.

As Dolly's a big girl we had to go for a 18 - 24 month baby grows for her even that's a little tight.

I'm sure she'll be fine and hopefully her recovery will be quick and problem free.

When our Milly was booked in for her spaying she decided to start her season a few days before as well  :005: Three months delay then everything went smoothly.

Bob.

Well picked up Dolly just after 17:00 last night from the vet.
She was a bit groggy but as usual only to happy to leave the vet.
Kept her in the crate for most of the night but did let her out for a pee in the garden later and to have some chicken / fish for dinner.
All we got last night was grunts and squeaks, looking for attention / affection but she did not seem in any real discomfort.
Took her for a 10mins walk this morning along the lane and she was wanting to go further but restricted to the short walk asper vet instruction.
It's almost as if she has simply ignored the operation and just wants to get on with running about and having fun.
So far she's shown no interest in the wound and hopefully that continues.

Kim gave her one of her favourites this morning, hot dog sausages for breakfast with a pain killer hidden in one piece and they hardly touched the sides of her mouth before being gobbled down.

The one who seems to be having trouble is Silkie who can't seem to understand why Dolly's getting all this attention.

That's great. Silkie'll get her chance for the extra attention next year  :005:.  Hope everything goes as smoothly for her as well.

Well that's 3 days in now from her spaying and on her morning walk I let her slip the leader for the 1st time.
We're now walking for a mile or so three times a day on the leader which at least is giving her some exercise.
I had to quickly put her back on as she decided to go into spin mode, free at last, free at last this morning.
The wound has healed up remarkably quickly and all swelling is gone.
It always amazes me how resilient dogs are given my last wound from surgery on my left leg took nearly a week and half to get to same stage.
She has performed the Houdini trick twice now of removing the baby grow totally.
Neither Kim nor I can work out how she's managed to do this given that her two front legs are through the arm holes and at the other end her tail is though a hole cut in the garment.
Interestingly this only has happen if she's left in her bed but not when in the crate.

She's had no interest in the wound but does seem to lick the shaved area on her right leg where the vet must have used during the op / pre op for a jab.
