Ear problem

HI All
       I have a Cocker,who will be 3yrs in July,he"s Black.Just had a problem with him a lump on his ear which has had to be removed, at first ithought he may have caught it in the bushes on his walk, at that point it was about as big as a pea,and not troubling him at all
After 10 days and no improvment a trip to the vets....  she seemed concerned about it made arrangment for its removel, it has now been removed but in a few days it did get bigger, thank goodness it was benign... was wondering if this is a common problem with Spaniels would appreciate any info from anyone....

What did the vet say it was, a cyst maybe?

Yes, cockers seem prone to little cysts, growths, warts etc. 99.9% of these are benign and not a problem for the dog--but worrisome for the owner! Although at 3 your dog seems awfully young for that, they usually get them when they are older.

thanks for reply on monte"s ear lump vet said it was a tumour... as you say didnt worry monte but it sure did me, vet is checking all is well tomorrow....diane30

This is where the confusion and worry sets in as most vet s call any lumps tumours, whether they are benign or malignant.   The word tumour used to scare the c**p out of me

monte had his ear checked again to day pleased to say that they are pleased with how it has healed so i am very glad.....of course monte does"nt know what all the fuss was about and was"nt at all reluctant to go back to the vets... as some dogs i know..diane30
