Wellington's first clip - and he was not happy
« on: September 28, 2007, 11:15:31 PM »
Poor Wellington
He is our 4 year old rescued cocker who is not the world's bravest soul  :luv: We think he was abused before he came to us.

Anyway, he usually gets done by us at home with scissors, thinning scissors and a coat king but today was his first visit to the grooming parlour.

When we picked him up he looked cute but apprently he shouted and screamed for nearly the whole 2 hours he was there, poor chap.  The groomer was not very happy as she was probably feeling rather deaf and her patience was probably worn very thin.  Apparently he was the loudest dog they had ever had and people were coming in off the street to see what was going on  :o

So we feel really mean at having put him through it - we knew he would have an opinion when they did his ears so I washed them before he went but I did not imagine he would scream for nearly 2 hours  :'( They did have my mobile number so they could have called us back at any time

Here he is with before and after shots.  the after looks much shorter than we thought it would, not sure what we should have expected.

Awww bless him. :luv: Such a shame he got so stressed though. :( Maybe it's worth getting a mobile groomer to come and do him at home?

Poor old Wellington!  :luv:

He does look lovely both before and after.

Hopefully he'll be better each time he has to go. Ruby was a real wimp when she first started going to the groomers but she's much better now.  ;)

Oh what a sweet boy, that is exactly how Cass came back from the groomers!  ::) I'm sure he will get use to it.

Was he well behaved for you when you groomed him?

Sasha is a screamer too. I do her myself now. Welly looks lovely and it will be a while before he needs to go back. Unless he is like Sasha who is a total furball again in a couple of weeks.

He is lovely in both photos. Thats how my Lucy looks when she is clipped. I think it looks nicer a little bit longer but it grows so fast and having it done short gives an extra two weeks between clips (and very low maintenance too start with). He is a handsome chap no matter how furry he is.

If he was that upset she should have called you instead of letting your little chap freak out for two hours.

awww he is just gorgeous - I could just squidge him.

It does sound like it was too stressful for him.  Perhaps a mobile groomer, as Beth suggested, might be an idea for the future

Agree entirely with both points
