Good treats for puppies
« on: October 23, 2007, 09:22:35 PM »
Hi there folks Chewie has his first puppy training session on 29th Oct can anyone recommend any training treats for pups with sensitive tums. I want to take something other than his usual dry food, something scrummy  ;)

You could always make your own. That way you know what's in them.

I can vouch for a lot of those recipes....just go easy on the liver bread as it can give them wind.......... ::)  Will do anything for it though, or tuna bread.

I used tiny bits of cheese, Nature's Menu treats, small pieces of roast chicken and frankfurter sausage and home made tuna bread for puppy training all of which were chucked in the same bag and picked out randomly and all of which went down very well!

Only the most tasty treats work for merlin (being a lurcher with bad recall and love of squirells) so i use cheese and warmed up bits of hot dogs/chicken all mixed up. Its irresistable....

Mum to cockers Lily, Lance and Krumble and lurchers Arwen and Lyra. Hooman sister to Pepper, 13.

For recall and special "good girl" treats I have cooked chicken breast.  :D   For other commands I have chopped chiplatas or Nature's Menu treats.   :shades:  Whatever you have, always keep some in your pockets or in a handy bag - you'll find that you need them permanently in your left hand to begin with!!  :005:

Natures Menu treats are great. Small enough for training, don't disintegrate and are great for my cocker who has a tendency to suffer badly from colitis.
