Im another one who did the other way around, Glen was 4 months when Sally moved in aged 3 and boy did she do alot of shouting at Glen but only once did he actually seem scared and that was when she backed him into a corner and he was stood in his water bowl, very funny on reflection but scared me at the time. She never hurt him though and the two of them are thick as thieves now.

I tried not to intervene at all when Sally was telling Glen off but felt we had to intervene once or twice when Glen was being a wee rat just to give Sally some well earned peace. ;)

He is so stunning. I love Great Danes..... OH really wants one but he struggles helping with Hurley and there's no way I could get 2 and do it on my own.  ::)

I luuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuurve the 'Wilson the Seal' pic (with his head in the red towel).

You're all making my head swell!  I feel such a proud mummy!

What made us get a dane.....well, we always wanted a big dog and we both LOVED Weims, did loads of research contacted breeders but basically everywhere we went people told us they were NOT good for first time dog owners and would not do well to be left while we were at work!  So we looked at other breeds and OH came across Danes....my first reaction....don't be daft they're huge we couldn't possibly!  But everything else fit the bill!  So I we went to a few shows and met some Danes and fell in love!  Never looked back and I don't notice the size anymore, although ALL other dogs look small now like Weims, pointers....other dogs we previously referred to as big are now medium!

Caroline.....my OH doesn't help much with Wilson and I'm getting a cocker....so go for it!!!  :005:

You've almost convinced me Hannah! Almost......  :005:

It IS a possibility when we move house, at the moment I dont think our home would be big enough. I worry because both OH and I work full time and I barely have enough time to myself at the moment! Added to that I might as well have a 5 year old child to bring up/clear up after with my OH  ;)

We are very lucky with Hurley in that he really doesnt suffer too much when we leave him during the day..... but I daren't even consider what it would mean if we got a GD with SA..... imagine the chewing on that! Financial considerations are also an implication because Hurley is on BARF and Im not sure I could afford to feed a GD on BARF.... what would it be? 2 whole chickens a day!?!?!?!  ;)

How would I transport it!?!?! That would be my new mini out the window..... :shades:

Barf is meant to be the cheapest option for a dane I think!  I think loads of the dane owners use the site Landywoods who are a Barf delivery company!

I think they eat lambs ribs etc as well as whole chicken carcasses! Not sure how much though!

Wilson is on 1kg of kibble a day plus a tin of meat to mix in!  So it is fairly costly to feed him!

As for the size of your house, we only have a 3 bed terrace style house, and Wilson fits in!  The bed takes a lot of the kitchen up though!  And he manages to squeeze on the back seat of my Astra!  Not sure about a mini though!  Although I know someone with a peaugot 106 with a dane!
