OMG Cookie did a runner
« on: June 03, 2008, 05:01:38 PM »
I am a bag of nerves  :o  Took Cookie to meet my 95 yr old grandmother with my 65yr old mum.  I thought oh that will be a very pleasant and easy day so was looking forward to it and was really relaxed.  Cookie was impeccable in my grandmothers and behaved exceptionally well.....untill we set off home... >:D >:D

Cookie had been put in the backseat of the car but not yet secured with her harness when my mum saw another cocker she immedialty shouted them across to look at Cookie thru the window. Fatal :o :o  Cos as soon as mum got in the car (its 2 door) Cookie seized her chance as i had not had chance to secure her.  She was out of the door thru a tiny gap and mum actually trapped her in the door stopping the door closing.  My first fear was that she was injured THEN my heart sank cos i realised she was not in the car.  I flew out to  see her chasing the other Cocker and their owner.  I shouted her in a controlled manner cos did not want to freak her out but this did not work and she continued to run (near a busy main road) she then ran into the OAP bungalows looking for the Cocker.  She was only out of my view for approx 30 secs but in that time the things that went thru my head were awful.

She only stopped because she decided to have a poo so i seized my opportunity and walked up very calm (my heart was beating like mad) and casually grabbed her collar.  When she finished her Poo i gave her a treat and praised her for stopping.  Hope this was the right thing to do but i thought if i scald her she deff will not come back next time  :'( :'( It was a very terrifying experience and although i did not tell her off Cookie was very quite this pm  :'(

Still Shaking

Oh No! that is so scarey especially where there are busy roads, just glad Cookie is okay, and you could probably do with a drink, something a bit stronger than coffee  :luv:

To the world my Cocker is just a dog, to me my Cocker is the World
