I would ditto everything that everyone has said here.
However we took a different approach with crate training over night and decided from the beginning to leave her in the kitchen in her crate (thankfully she had no problems settling in it straight away with the door closed) and then at night I set my alarm for every two hours and took her out with the command 'pee pee Molly'.
Yes for the first few nights she howled when we left her but these are clever dogs and she quickly cottoned on that we would come back and within a week she had happily settled.
I had to carry on getting up in the night for a couple of weeks but slowly stretched the time in between that I went down to her and within three weeks of her being with us she was sleeping through from 11pm to 6am.
I feel this technique has really helped us with toilet training as she now pees on command when we take her out.
Yes it was hard ignoring the crys and I did wonder whether we were doing the right thing but now she is a happy toilet trained dog who can be left for short periods without getting anxious.
A crate is the best thing we bought for Molly as now it is her crash pad and for us a safe place for her where she can't chew anything!
The only other advice would be not to stress over any unwanted behaviour that crops up - and it will do quite quickly! After a few days with us Molly started chewing, biting and growling when she didn't want to do anything - we paniced and thought we had an aggressive dog but with reading posts here realised this is just normal behaviour. All puppies will push the boundaries and see what they can get away with and you must gently and lovingly show them what behaviour is acceptable and what is not and do this right from the beginning.
This forum is a great place for gaining advice and realising that your puppy isn't a problem dog it's just a normal puppy!!
Have lots of fun as we have had so many more laughs in our house since she arrived....enjoy!
