Dave hated baths but with both my pups I've always heaped the praise on the second they are still/quiet and now when I say 'good boy' he settles immediately and looks at me for more 'good boys'  :005: It took a few baths though.

Drying him with a hair dryer was even harder though... fortunately my Weimaraner helped here she loves the heat so came over, sat next to him and wedged herself against him when I was trying to dry him. It worked cos brilliantly because he adores her and thinks she's great at everything so he copied her and now does the same  :-*

(I cocker calming Weimaraner available for rent at a very reasonable price)

Ah I'm glad it's not just my pup! I bathed Darcey in a little washing up bowl in the kitchen where it's warm - in front of the rayburn - but she still went potty! I got soaked and so did the kitchen! Might get OH to give me a hand next time.

How warm should the water be? I didn't want to have it too warm but wondered if it was a little cool for her, she really shivered afterwards  :luv:

I usually have a hot water bottle wrapped in a towel ready for after the bath and he has his own bath mat, that usually keeps him a bit warmer but i usually make it the kind of warm you would use for a baby.( i guess as i dont have any children im 21)

Ollie doesn't like the sound of the shower - so i fill the bath a little and run the taps and use a jug - he stands pretty well this way!!!

Or he goes in the shower cubicle with my OH!!!

I take Bramble and Beri in the shower cubicle with me...........I used to do this with my old cocker's as well I find it much easier, they still shake all over the bathroom however  :luv:

Actually its their birthday tomorrow ...they are 1 year old so I think a nice hose down in the shower is in order tonight  :005:

I put a bath mat in the bottom of the bath first as I tihink they find it a bit stressful when they are slipping around.
I'm lucky that Eric doesn't really mind the bath but I always feel worn out after I've bathed him.
I also wear a pinny while bathing him because no matter how good he is I always end up soaked.

I don't have a problem with bathing, just shout them upstairs, get plenty of towels and shut the bathroom door behind the last one. I've had all 3 in bath at same time or individually. I don't stand any nonsense and they just stand there til I've finished. Once they are all towelled dried I bring the hair dryer out and they all fight to be first to get under it. Same thing when it comes to grooming. ph34r

I bath very infrequently, however usually have a tub of warm water waiting after a walk in the garden which when they stand in it, it goes up to the top of their legs. They all go in in an orderly fashion, then I squeeze out their paws and towel dry them one at a time, then they are allowed in kitchen.

14 week old Bentley has not liked having a bath and in the beginning he was having them daily as i was coming down every morning to poo covered paws (crate training).

I started off bathing him in the sink and he did try to ecape at every possible opportunity, soaking me in the proccess.!!  >:(

the last few times have been in the bath and i usually run it so that it comes up to his belly and use a plastic jug, he still tries to abscond  >:D  but a few firm 'no's and he looks pitifully at me and stays...

I use groomers puppy shampoo and also groomers puppy fresh spray for when he dried (smells like baby powder mmm)

Bentley freaks when the hairdryer is turned on.
Last time i bathed him i put his harness on and attached the lead to my jeans so he couldn't leg it.
He hated every minute of it but he has to get used to it and if and when i use a proffessional groomer they won't have any nonsense with him......

Funny how they hate a nice warm bath and yet love cold rivers/lakes/puddles/mud........ :005:

Well I have just discovered that although my puppy hates baths she LOVES the hairdryer! I thought she might as she likes the hoover/ tumble drier/ washing machine/ dishwasher! She just lay on my lap pawing the air - like she was sunbathing in hot air!  :luv: :luv: :luv:

Super cute. Hopefully this may make bathing all worthwhile

Love Han and very cute fluffy clean Darcey

ok i have a question as cant find it anywhere else on the site,

How often do you bath your dogs?! Marty is 16 weeks  and last had a bath 2 weeks ago, hes starting to smell a bit but nothing OTT but would rather give him a bath at the weekend rather than during the week.

Cheese and bath toys. When Milo was little we fed Milo cheese while he was in the bath (nice warm water too, cold water brrrr i wouldn't like it either!) and he was happy and waggy as larry. Now he just follows ducky around or stands there waiting for it to be over so that he can race around the house like a hare.  ::)

cbaker023 - we wash Milo about once a month. It'd be more if it were up to my OH, I think he'd like tghe dog to have a daily bath  ::)
